Resurrected RalliArt's resurrected RalliArt Sportback

I thought I would start a thread for my RalliArt build.

2004 Lancer RalliArt Sportback

This is how the car looked when the previous owner had it.

The previous owner had a RRM turbo kit on it and it was very well maintained.

This is what the car looked like on the lot when I bought it.

No more turbo, it had been on the lot for 2 years, a mechanic borrowed it for a few weeks and trashed it.

A few weeks later...
The RRM turbo's supplemental injector and a poor tune melted cyl #4.

New (rebuilt warranty engine) engine...

out with the old, in with the new.

installing a new transmission pump (mechanic damaged the old one)

IM thermal gaskets

Pictures after the transmission line disconnected and started the car on fire. (I hired the worst mechanic in the world, thankfully it was all covered by a third party warranty.)

More to come...

No RRM kit? IIRC that was the first turbo kit that RRM made for an A/T. What are your performance plans for the sportback?

Yeah, this is Canadian Canucks old car, he sold the car without the turbo, some kid bought it and wrote off his car in an accident. (second hand info, I really have no idea) That was last that anyone heard of the RRM kit that was on this car.

So far I have RRM exhaust, UD pulley, rear strut bar, SRI and TEIN S-tech springs.

I have a motor on the stand, I am going to do a full build on that motor.
  • P&P head, intake.
  • Eagle Rods
  • Forged pistons
  • STI injectors
  • Walpro fuel pump
  • Custom cam
  • Hackish reflash
  • Other stuff I'm forgetting...
The transmission will be going to Level 10. I am running a universal transmission cooler at the moment.

I am trying to get some 2008+ RalliArt or GTS 18" wheels, tough to find for a decent price.

I have a sponsor of sorts (still haven't seen any money), we are going to use this car for advertising, it seems unique enough.

Right now the car is my daily driver, I am going to lease an Impreza in the next couple months. At that time, the RalliArt "Christine" will be going under the wrench.

The car is named Christine, cause it started on fire, and it's the most bad-*** movie car ever!

Like Christine in the movie, this car was neglected and bought back by the love for the car...lol. Or something like that.

Watch around the 2:40 mark and you'll get the idea.

bro I was just want to say please check every inch of that car. Canadian Canuck beat the **** out of that car when he had it with the AT turbo. When he sold it he already knew it had issues.

When I bought it I knew it had issues, I talked to CC before I bought it.

The car has been checked over, not sure if you can see the pics posted in this thread.... Like we discussed on C4G, I got the car really cheap and a warranty on the drivetrain included. The suspension has been checked, the brakes are being replaced. It will be parked for a complete overhaul in a couple months. This isn't my first rodeo.

Nice to know that you are looking out for me though.

Finally found some time to install a few parts...

A rear strut brace.

And a SRI.

Some new rims. From a 2009 RalliArt.

Placed beside the car.

Once I repair them I will be painting them satin black and wrapping them with 215 35 R18 rubber.

Should fit well once my fenders are rolled.

+46

Click for a comparison with the stock wheel and tire.

The 18x7 wheels are 5 mm (0.2'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable.

The 18x7 wheels will stick out 5 mm (0.2'') farther. Acceptable.

Wheel wells 100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM)

It will probably take a month or so for me to repair, paint, and mount tires on these wheels. Stay tuned...
