ENGINE BLOCK SWAP?!!! 4G69 to 4G63
Hi there smart people I just wanted to share my thoughts on a little project I have in mind. I have in my position two 4G63 short blocks and two 4G69. I already sold one 4G63 but I am keeping the other one. NOw I looked into the sorrounding of the cylinder walls and it seems that the 4G69 is hollow (it means that it does not have too much material in the cylinder wall) but te 4G63 is a solid configuration. I noticed also that almost all the bolts for the front and the rear of the block (pulley and flywheel) where in the exact same location. If you plan on going turbo for like 25+ psi you SHOULD buy pistons but even with forged pistons your block won't handle that much abuse.Would it be possible to put a 4G69 crankshaft and forged pistons into the 4G63 block ?? I have photos to explain this

I don't think you have to worry about the cylinder walls where you're talking about. It's between the 4G69 cylinders where the walls are thinnest, you can even see that in your pictures.
As for swapping cranks, you're the one with both blocks sitting in front of you, you should be able to answer that question with more certainty than any of us.

Guys, from reading the post, I think he has a DSM short block. There is no way he has 2 Evo short blocks. It's hard enough to get even one, much less two. DSM block is abundant as B16's.

Yep that is true I am doing a racing cylinder head step by step with cramic coatings special camshaft and heat threatments I already started a thread about it....
next I will raise my compression and prepare the spare crank I have in my garage with knife edging and lightening it , I am planning on 250 WHP without NOS..... not easy but I will go for it , I got the money and the time and a lot of spare parts soo

won't go ahead cause the 4g63 has a different bore and needs to be bore out to our 87 mm bore , too expensive. It will be better to reinforce out block with forged internals

To get that HP you will have to rev very high. With our stroke/rods ratio you wont be able to rev over 8250rpm safely I will recommend you to use the EVO crank of the 4g63 in your block with custom pistons & rods. That will make you a de-stroke aprox. 2.2liter ready for 8.8kRpms with a greater safety margin and broad power band. With the 2.4 you will have more Tq down low but will have limited HP due to the RPM limitations therefore less HP.
