A question for the Pro's

If I swap from a 4g69 to a 4g63T head with all the fixing (Turbo and All), could I use the ECU from a donor Evolution, or will I have to use a full stand alone system. The reason I am asking is because the vehicle will still need to pass emissions and OBDII Checks. Trying to develop a route for my project. I am trying to compile as much information as possible on the head swap.

I'd be interested in any responses as well.

Lot of info on this can be found here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/04...ternative.html

In a nutshell the cleanest way would be to get the ecu, wiring harness, and sensors with whatever head you go with. Evo VIII you will lose Mivec, Evo IX you can keep Mivec.

I want to make sure that the car can pass inspection after it is done... The question is if I do a full swap of everything above block level, will the evo 9 ECU throw a check engine light. Head, Manifold, Turbo, all sensors, harness, and ecu. Pretty much the entire IX setup on the 4g69 block. Trying to be smart about my mods because the car is daily driven atm, and will need to pass inspection.

If you put all those IX parts on a 4g69 block and get it tuned to support the 2.4l instead of 2.0l then no you shouldnt have any check engine lights. Everything should work fine. A lot of evo owners run 2.4l blocks with no issues. and a lot of 3G Eclipse guys swap to the DOHC with no issues. So long as it is done right and all the sensors are installed and functioning properly.

In that case i think I may go for it!
