Rattling sound when in Neutral
Hi guys,
I've done searches on the forums but wanted to confirm. When I'm in Neutral I'm hearing a very loud rattling noise. My 2006 Ralliart has 210 KM on it. Original clutch. Is it the TOB, do I need to change it or will the car keep running?
I have been having some difficulty shifting once in a while for the past 2 months. A bit more stiff some times.
Thanks for the help.

Yes when I press the clutch pedal it goes away.
I haven't changed the timing belt. Got the car from my brother I think it might have been changed at 130K not sure.
Oil was changed at 150K Km.
In Windsor Ontario. Is this something I need to worry about and get it fixed or can I keep it running?.
Thanks for the help.

ok, it's probably your TOB...is the clutch original? it might be time to do the clutch, it may either start slipping if it is the factory clutch, or the TOB could potentially fall apart and cause some damage...also, what kind of transmission oil was used? and Windsor is too far for me to give you a hand with anything...lol

Thanks for the reply.
It is the original clutch. I'm not sure what oil was used he got it done from a mechanic.
What kind of damage can TOB cause. Also do I need to just swap the clutch to fix this?

you'd need a throwout bearing...and clutch..
ussually comes as a kit with the clutch bearing and pressure plate(and alignment tool)
if he got the fluid change done at a random shop they probably used some oe equivalent fluid...HOPEFULLY gl-5....
iof they didin't get it out and get some good fluid in...
also, im not too familiar with km vs mi....but if the timing belt was "possibly" done at 130km...and it's at 210km...it's right on the borderline of changing the belt...(if i remember the interval is ~100km....i DO know it's 60kmi...)...i'd recommend you do it/get it done and also the clutch, bearing and fluid...
hopefully you don't need a trans rebuild too...theese have been known to have the inputshaft bearing go bad...but that's a different show, don't worry about it yet
hope that helps...good luck
