Weird sound?

Not sure what this sound is, or where its coming from. Maybe transmission? or maybe a rod knocking?.. Happens in all gears except 5th. Sound goes away when I push in the clutch. Sound also happens if I downshift. Most noticeable in first three gears. Heres a small video I've uploaded. Tried to capture the sound

Your input shaft bearing is done for. You also need to change the seal for it.
Welcome to the forum and the club.

Nice sounding exhaust by the way.

Seriously though, it's really terrible, (the bearing) did you just notice it ????

Thank you sir! Couldn't help chirpin the tires either. Was at a stop sign on a very steep hill.. lol.

Is this something easy to fix? Is it urgent that I fix it now? Or is this something I just have to take it to the dealer for?

No.. it was small at first.. and only when I was turning so I thought it had been a cx axle.. That and a mixture of lots of **** happening IRL.. never had a chance to really do anything about it

did you replace the axles? knocking like that can also be typical of a worn outer cv joint...does the noise change if you steer one way or the other?

It needs to be changed right away or the bearing could cause damage to other parts of the gearbox. It's not easy to fix. The gearbox has to be removed and opened.

She will be going to the dealer next week. Any idea what they may charge me for a rebuild?

on a transmission? I would say roughly $400 USD just in seals and bearings...and I would guess at least 3-4 hours in labour...I've never actually taken my car to a shop for repair...but I have purchased the parts and done it myself...

they could charge more, I don't know...I've heard of people getting charged more than $1000 for a timing belt job...so who knows...

It will cost a lot certainly, but less than if you wait till it goes bang.
Good luck.

So, while its in the shop, I'm using my GF's car(doesn't have her license yet and was supposed to get it after my car was out of the shop).. they're charging me 1900 for new clutch kit(TOB etc.) , input shaft bearing, input shaft seal, rear main seal etc, plus labour...

Well they were going to go ahead and take care of those two recalls open for my car (air bag inflator, and the reprogramming for my ecm for the speed sensor or something).. and they made a mistake and shorted the whole computer. They have to order me a new one, but apparently its on backorder for up to 100 days from japan..

I'm furious, it puts me in a bad position with asking my gf to keep borrowing her car etc, etc. and I can't get a loaner because I don't have full coverage..

I will be telling the dealer I was 50% off on the whole bill. and I will bargain from there..

This is Ricart Mitsubishi in Groveport, Ohio. Will keep everyone posted, to know how this dealer works.

Already checked... no luck. Thanks though buddy!.. I'm hoping that since they've already got their district manager involved, hopefully they can get it sooner than their expected ETA

what parts are you leaving out, because all of those parts you listed comes to exactly $319.11 plus applicable state tax and shipping on jnztuning.com, and these are genuine OEM parts...it would be interesting to ask them for a printed price list...

aside from all of that nonsense, since they fried your ECU and can't get the part, they should be giving you a loaner car on their dime...call mistu head quarters and let them know what's going on.
