when I traded in my 03 POS ES lancer the suspension was shot, tranny was slipping and the cooling system was leaking and engin was pinging loud! and the interior was torn up and stained... it had 80k miles on it And I got $3000 for it...LOL

They can do something about the price. If they want a sale, they will bend over backwards with the right pressure.

When i bought my RA the sales manager said to me that he wanted his guy to get some commision. I told him i don't care if your salesman has to eat ramen noodles for a month, so before financing, i talked them down to 12,500ish. 17,000 out the door.

They make money off of the people that just take the first offer dropped on the table.

you guys think car dealerships are bad... i work in a yamaha shop, you should see what they give for used bikes... its funny because people want to upgrade so bad they take anything they can get pretty much.

Because bikes are like ATVs, snowmobiles, lawnmowers...etc. Their depreciation factor is much much steeper. They are much cheaper to begin with and there is no shortage of them. People need cars more then they need a bike or ATV. Harley has done a good job of actually creating a demand, shortage, and therefore bikes that actually hold value and may actually appreciate. But the Japanese crank out as many as possible. There's a saying about bikes:. "There's always somebody dying to get one and somebody dying to get rid of one."

Oh, please - do tell. What was your position there before you saw the light and left? What about your experience at one store gives you the right to call everyone in an industry a crook?
