question about motor mount interchangeability .. evo/RA
had a question about motor mounts. im looking to purchase some stiffer mounts, but the only ones i can find are the RRM ones...do any other companies make aftermarket RA mounts?
are evo 8/9 mounts interchangeable with our RA's?
thanks in advance gentlemen...

evo 8/9 front mount fits. I believe the other side/rear mounts are different.
I bought a used stock evo 9 front mount in this forum for my RA. It is stiffer than RA and helps reduce wheel hop. Very slight vibration at idle, a nice "middle ground" solution.
I have a hard aftermarket urethane mount waiting to be installed. Me and the car can tolerate a lot more idle vibration if it totally eliminates wheel hop. Do a search here, there are many kinds for sale - probably can't go wrong with any of them. You can get just the insert that presses into your stock steel bracket, or a complete plug 'n' play unit. Get the latter if you don't have access to a hydraulic press.

I have AMS' front mount insert (the softer black one.) You don't need a press to install it if you get creative with your other tools. I used a sawzall to remove the stock mount insert (cut the inner collar in two places, then hammered it out with a hammer/chisel) then used my bench vise to press in the AMS mount.

thanks for the info fellas..
i know our evo big brothers have tons of options for mounts, still doing some research...so pretty much any 8/9 front mount will work for our RA's? ill probably purchase a whole mount, instead of just the inserts, you know...for some bling factor. haha.

Transmission mounts? Side rear mounts? Try just the stiff front mount first. Then you'll know if it "makes sense" to you to replace any others. If it's handling and wheel hop you want to focus on, the next step is lighter wheels. I replaced my stock wheels with 16"x7" 5zigen fn01rc and Toyo T1R tires to save 8 pounds per wheel/tire over stock. That did more than anything to improve road performance - best money I've spent. From your questions, I'd suggest that bolting the transmission and engine hard to the chassis would be a waste of your money and time.

I have a guy here that can do Alum mounts with poly bushings. He would need 10 confirmed orders before he went ahead. We can use my 05 RA as a template...as the my turbo has "softened" the stock mounts.
