Awesome! Glad to hear. That and RRM's intake manifold are likely next to go on the RA.

Failed tensioner on the green one, Im guessing the white one was about 10,000mi from the 60,000 mark. I was pretty rough on it though...

Hey my gates one lasted 62k miles hahaha that's 2k more miles than recommended and trust me those miles weren't easy!! Putting a gates back in the new motor (just what I have on hand) and will be sure to change it around 45k miles I wonder how many miles the oem one can go before it snaps anyone care to try? Hahaha jk. It would be worth it look into a stronger more reliable belt

My OEM Mitsu belt lasted 100,000 miles. As far as I know no one makes a Kevlar performance belt for our motor...it's too bad...

Just did a quick search online and read that the 2008 eclipse came with a Kevlar belt OEM. So I did a quick part search and found that they are different part numbers but the same width and length as well as tooth count which is 122 so I wonder if its a possibility

Edit: same part number from Mitsubishi different part number from rockauto so when I replaced mine I replaced it with older weaker version of OEM so just so we know now when buying a aftermarket timing belt shop for the stronger belt

my car had the oe belt when i changed it at ~100kmi too....
i replaced it with a continental belt...

sold the car at ~150kmi....iirc
dont know wether it was the stronger or weaker belt...
and as i've said before i also changed all the pulleys and tensioners with it along with the wp(which ended up leaking) and had to re-replace with the OE one...(and that never failed either)

Gates makes a racing belt for the Evo. I tried talking with them for a few days to see if they would be willing to make one to the same specs for our engine. They said they weren't interested in expanding their racing belt line at the moment.

When doing that digging I found out that Gates actually makes the racing belts for several of the "name" brand companies that sell them for the evo like HKS and Greddy. Both buy Gates belts and slap their logo on them.

Im wondering if the OE eclipse belt is actually made any differently than the OE RA belt. I might try it out when I start ordering parts.

New Sled

Moved down to southern Ohio for a new job, software engineer. Picked this up as a family car for my girlfriend and for commuting back home. 2015 Outlander Sport SE. Evo X is next on the list to replace the RA!

Looks good man! Where are you working in southern Ohio now? You close to KY? If so we should get together and hang out some time! Nekkidlad is moving down near here soon too.

Now when you say "replace" the RA. Your not trading it in are you?

Yea Troy / Dayton Area.

I really don't want to because it has been so good to me over the years. I plan to keep it as a winter beater.
