Rather than make a permanent change folks should also consider vinyl stickers or rubber plugs.

The wing on this car is not coming back. The car is actually getting ready to go to get painted, going simple. Blueish Primer Gray Flat, with two coats of poly over top.

also there's already a sticky about using removable plugs and/or vinyl
plus an even better way to get the holes fixed..is to weld in some blanks...then fill and sand and prime
(if you can weld...or know a welder...or pay somebody to weld it...)

It would be really hard to tack weld blanks in those rear holes... You would have to cut the supporting frame to do it....

Regardless, doing it this way is cost effective, and doesn't let your trunk rust out; that is why I suggested doing it this way, and why I did it that way on my own vehicle.
