From what I've read in this thread it will rub.
I can tell you that 215/50/17 on 17x7.5 ET 38 rubs too when lowered via Swift springs.
I plan to use 215/45/17 and roll the fenders.

Thanks. I really thought it would. So maybe I'll just roll the quaters and the fenders. It is hard bc where I live there's on a few lancers that are dropped and they all have the stock rims. I'll post a pic with the wheels on.

Please forgive my noobish ignorance, but I am having trouble finding out if 18 inch rims will fit on my car.
The rims I have are 18x7 with offset of 42.
I suppose if anyone is curious I have the Falken Circuit Spec 18" rims
Also First Post!

-EDIT: Actually forget I said anything. I just remembered that the guy I bought the rims off of had them on a lancer

18" wheels will fit, especially at only 7 wide. You should be ok. You will need to find a tire though with a low profile. I always use http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp to compare tire sizes to gauge what will fit if I go up/down a size on my wheel.

Well I read through most of this thread, but I am tired and I think I know what I am looking for...

I am getting the BC Racing Coilovers this week, and would eventually like to get some new wheels, I won't be dropping it much because it is my daily and I don't feel like scraping everywhere I go.

I am thinking 17X7 40 with 215/40/17, would I need to roll anything or worry about rubbing? As this is my daily, it will see some track days and I really like to race car the back roads here.

Edit: Or maybe 17X7.5 45 with 225 or 235/40/17, can anybody advise if rolling/pulling was required? I might do some 5MM spacers to bring them out just a little.

Over 215 is guaranteed rubbing.

215/45 17 17x7 ET 38

Ralliart brethren, today I have fitted the RE760 in 215/45 17 mounted on 17 x 7.5 ET 38. The car is on Swift Sports which drop half inch or slightly more at the front and approximately 1/4 inch at the back.

After a brief test drive (driver only) I can report a slight rubbing circling at full left lock, and a further slight rubbing swerving between 60 & 80 km/h. I pulled the fenders some since I got back but I haven't driven yet. If it still rubs a proper pulling or hammer will fix that.

Update: A proper test drive has revealed rubbing at the front and back when the suspension gets compressed, nearly compressed a deer too.

Sweet, because I ended up with these Konig Zero-Ins, 17X7 +40 with some Nitto Neo-Gen 215/40. Getting the rims powder coated all black sometime this month, then I well have them put on.

just bought new wheels, its 17x8 +30 with 215/40 tires. im lowered on S TECHs and i gotta say i love it. tires stick out a little far out the fenders, rubs when i hit speed bumps but other than that im happy. might need to fender roll the rears a bit though !

Excellent pics everybody. Superior wheels pnoy - wide and sticky! Thanks for the info too.

2006_RA great to see you out on the road, that quiet understated car guru in sleeper mode. Can't wait for the rest of your work - gonna be calling out V8's soon?

My setup is 16x9 +10 on rear and 16x9+15 front.
205/45R16 tires
Obviously need all 4 fender rolled and a rear camber kit to make them fit.

Sorry, I posted specs earlier in the thread, they are 17x8 rota grids with +35 offset. I have a 5mm spacer in the rear to make the rear +30. I do not rub unless there are three people in the back and I'm cornering hard, then it rubs slightly in the rear. but I have not rolled my fenders, pretty sure it wouldn't rub at all if I did.
