Spark Plug Questions

Hey guys, I have a quick 2 questions regarding spark plugs.

1) It seems like everyone on here uses the OEM NGK ones but those are pretty expensive where I live (40 bucks each). An alternative that Napa has are Champion Iridium OE-Type plugs (12 bucks each). Does anybody have any expirience with non NGK plugs? Has anything gone wrong for you guys?

2) The default gap on these plugs is 0.044. Is this acceptable, or will I have to gap them since most people here are in the 0.02 region?

Thanks for your replies!

40 Each? Thats the typical price for all 4 around here I think. Search the vendors and see what price they can give you.

1. Can you use Amazon.com?
2. No, they will not work, and if you try to gap them, you will most likely damage the tip.

I'd stay with stock, to me the money you save isn't worth something going wrong.
Im evo swapped and I actually blew the tips off 2 of the sparkplugs (60k miles on them) doing quarter mile runs. Being that close to having catastrophic failures I'd never risk running a lower quality then spec parts. Sure you save 50$ but you sure would be kicking yourself if it doesn't hold up.
