Stock front "crash beam" and foam pad: 21.4 lbs
JDM EvoX front "crash beam": 14.8 lbs

Weight lost: 6.6 lbs

I was a little disappointed, as I was honestly hoping to lose closer to 10-15 lbs or so, but the stock piece is surprisingly light considering its steel construction. If anything, I now at least have the ability to add intercooler air ducting to the front bumper if I so desire and I also have the threaded mount to install a proper front tow hook if I want to.

I also ordered a rear "crash beam" but haven't had the chance to install it yet. I do know that the JDM beam weighs in at only 9.8 lbs on my scale, so I'll update with comparison when I finally do it.

Was this just un-needed? Do you have a picture?

For me, yes, they were not needed. If you remove the rear seats, you can see a couple of black, flat, metal panels on the floor of the car with anchor loops on them where you would attach a child safety seat or something of that nature. They come off after removing a couple of bolts. I'll see if I can dig them up in the garage and snap a pic, but I don't know how long that'll take to find it.

I ordered these straight through the Mitsu dealership. They don't show them in their inventory, or through their C.A.P.S. parts database, though. They'll have to contact someone who handles the overseas orders directly and they will be able to source the parts that way.

Does anyone have a chart of Ralliart weight by model year?

I recall reading somewhere that the '11 is close to 100lbs lighter than my '09 model, and would love to know where the weight was removed

Are those crash beams plug and play or do you need to do some modifications?

They're basically a direct swap. Only modification required is moving the wire harness clips on the harness to match up with the new holes and the horn location is slightly different. All-in-all it's fairly simple, though.

Was there a difference in the dimensions of the crash beam? Just wondering?

Just FYI, mitsubishiparts.net has the front beam available.

Weird, they told me they did not have anymore when I placed an order last week and they canceled my order. Need to call them again.

ah well i was just going off that i added the part # and it put it in my cart w the 6-10 day shipping or w/e. assumed that meant they were middlemanning it from japan. I never actually placed the order or talked to anyone. My bad if i did relay bad info.

Your dealership is just being lazy. Part should cost right around $225-275, iirc., depending on how much they decide to mark it up, of course.

Japanparts is a great source for many hard to find JDM items, but when it comes to authentic Mitsu parts, it will ALWAYS be cheaper to order through the dealership. Initial pricing may be slightly higher, but there should be NO additional shipping charges whatsoever.
I called a dealer and they were able to order for about $100 less than japanparts. Just an FYI
