ECU Flash/EvoSCan
Hello,
Hope everyone had a good Xmas holiday.
I ended up getting a laptop(Lenovo) for xmas at a reasonable price. So, now I have a laptop, cable and boost pill.
I've been trying to read up on stuff, but most I find is how to adjust your maps. I don't want to venture that far into it. I mainly just want to upload GST maps then eventually a pro-tune. Sorry, for long winded question!!
I want to get this straight:
Connect OpenPort, cables etc to laptop.
Open ECUFlash
Click on Read ECU(then save it, multiple times for safety )
Then click write to ECU-picking correct gst maps; which I have stored in ECUFlash>rommedata>Mitsubishi>RalliartEvo(named it so I could remember)>GST BaseMaps.........
Writes to ECU if all things are correct, then dash lights go crazy for a bit
IF all is well, New Found Power and Fun!!
*I've heard that people get CEL after they flash a map? If true how do I get rid of it if I get it?
EvoScan: I believe I have everything pre-checked that needs to be checked. OpenPort 2.0/CAN 2006+(evo x)/Rax Fast Logging-Rev E Evox and in logging: checked-log data to file/to screen/disable multi-threading. I also checked Imperial Units instead of Metric or does it matter?
Lastly, what is proper way to log the car? Idle(how long), normal driving? WOT(3rd gear)etc? Do I just leave it running while doing my normal drive or stop logging between idle/normal drive/WOT etc? Does it matter if it's autoNormal or manual Normal/Sport?
Thanks for any input and advice, just a tad nervous about messing with ECU!

2014-2015
For those ralliart owners that have 2014-2015 years where there is no definition files on the goldenevo website, did you flash the 2013 GST basemap to your car or did you copy each table setting to your stock map and reflash? Not sure if there's a difference but want to make sure before I do it.

Be aware...
- There are ROM patches in place too (my "RAX Patch" stuff, PSI-based boost control). Those aren't tables; it's code that runs things differently.
- If the source Base Map has edits in tables your XML doesn't have, you simply won't see them. If you don't know they are there, you can't copy them.
- If the destination ROM's XML doesn't have one of the tables defined, you have nowhere to copy the data to.
etc.
Worst case, you'll end up with a ROM that has numbers in its boost control tables that are PSI-target style, but code in the ROM that's still interpreting those numbers as Load-target style.
Which would be, erm, sub-optimal.
So I'd avoid that.

What is your ROM ID?
Example, I use the same ROM ID for 2013-2015 Evos when I tune.

rom
Since you can use a 2013-2014 rom in a 2013-2015 Evo GSR or MR then I don't see why you couldn't do the same with the Ralliart.

My Rom id is 59570005. I ended up copying each individual table setting from your GST Basemap file to mine and reflashed the car. Seems to be working okay. I did this for smog purposes, so if they read the rom it will still read as a 2014 ralliart, but I guess I could also reflash the rom back to stock before getting the car smogged. Thanks for the info, good to know I can flash a different rom to my car.
Plus, you don't have to smog a 2015 until 2021.
And if your 2014/2015 ROM is 59570005, then you can most def use the 2013 59570004 basemap ROM.
