spark plug gap etc

Has anyone replaced the stock plugs yet? Curious how difficult it is, I used to have a Ford and it was a nightmare on that. If you have changed them, whats the gap? I am also curious what plugs you guys have used/aftermarket?

well in the ralliarts i highly suggest picking up new plugs as they are 1 step warmer than evo plugs

Where is the cheapest place to pick up a set of X plugs? Stock 8 heat range. I know in 2010 they went to a 7 in the RAs and id like to go to an 8 now that i have the boost turned up etc. TIA

The X style plug is still only available through Mitsubishi dealers. The 8 range plug is 1822A021 and they retail at 17.37 a plug.

I would say the 8 range plug. But I wouldn't waste $70 on a lightly modded car just to go one range colder.

I have talked with a couple tuners, Mellon for instance requests that all the spark plugs be changed out before switching the tune. This is using the logging method with Access tuner software and sending info to him so he can tune the AP. Does he request this just to make sure, without a doubt, that the car is firing properly for the new tune, or is it a safe play to change them whenever getting a more aggressive tune?

As a tuner myself i would say both. It's frustrating having customers come over for a tune and there plugs are shot... they have a boost leaks, there wide band isn't hooked up and the list goes on.

So, that being said, how hard is changing out the plugs on our cars? I do most of my own work and as long as they arent going to break off like they did in the Fords I owned, I should be fine.

I just ordered a set of X plugs to replace my stock ones. I've checked the plugs a couple of times and it wasn't difficult pulling the plugs and putting them back in..... and I know next to nothing about working on cars.

I'm also assuming that since the X plugs are OEM plugs that I shouldn't have to gap them.

Where did you buy the plugs at? And what is the part number?
