I picked mine up at Home Depot...I checked with Autozone/Advanced Auto Parts but they didn't carry it. If you go the painting route, I'd go with a satin finish black over matte black. The grill plastic has a little bit of a sheen to it, and I think the satin paint would match that more closely.

I haven't taken mine completely off but I did remove the screw and pull on it a little bit. It's wedged up against the window, so you have to kind of pull it straight upwards, starting at the end with the screw (also feels like there might be adhesive).
