Engine Bay Cleaning

Hey,
Was just wondering what steps people do to keep their engine bay clean? I usually just wipe it down, but it's beyond that right now. What products to people use, techniques, things I should keep from getting wet? Some people keep the car running I've read, but wanted to get a better idea.

used to do the same method you did for a while but dirt and grime were in places i couldn't even reach, purchased a power washer for about 120 at Lowes and covered up my ECU, intake hole, and terminals (removed battery from car) just to be sure, added some purple power degreaser and went away with the power washer. i could now eat off my engine bay, would definitely recommend a power wash

I've always used simple green and just a hose. Has worked great for almost 20 years now.

Simple green and a hose. Or, if its really bad, gunk degreaser and pressure washer (on low pressure), and avoid directly spraying electrical connectors.
