Little bit of knock normal?

Hey guys, so I tried to find a thread really close to mine, so i wouldn't hafta waste everyone's time with another knock question haha, but couldn't seem to find one. Anyway, At WOT I'm getting between 0.7-1.8 "knock retard" on cobb AP, which is from what i understand, about 1-2 counts of it. Is this normal to see? or should i be worried?

Hmm, i too see knock on the AP, but its almost always when engaging a gear, almost every gear change = 0.4 or 0.7 KNOCK and i see as much as 3.5 during take off in first gear, not launch, just normal daily driving take off, easy throttle.

Thats odd... Mine is only at WOT or very close to WOT, never at partial throttle.

Any clutch slipping can cause the initial knock when engaging a gear, but you should be fine as long as you keep it below 1.0 .35 and .7 you're all good according to the techs on here.

up to 0,7 knock retard = 2 knock sum - at WOT acceptable if it is random
1,8 = 5 knock sum, a bit much at WOT, tuning would be needed.

Perhaps yes, try it. Or just download ATR and amend the timing/boost map yourself.

Going to a lower octane map would probably increase your knock counts as the fuel is more prone to detnation.

Exact opposite - stay on the fuel and change map to 91 oct - it will decrease timing and target boost.

Yeah that's what I meant, how much power do you think i'll lose going to that map from the Stage 1 93 LWG?

i also usually get gas from a crappy no name place ( still 93, but not exxon or shell, etc) could the quality of the gas be a little worse from there?

If you are really worried about it your best option (as said above) is to download ATR and reduce timing by 1* around that area. Going to another map may not solve your problem as it may have the same timing values. If the knock goes away then you can fine tune it so only the required cell is reduced... if it stays then its probably phantom and no big deal.

Interesting, how difficult is it to use ATR?
