Going for a pro tune…. what else should I get before going?

My current setup on my 2010 GSR is a Buschur SS catback connected to a Perrin high flow downpipe. I have been running a Stage 2 (91 Octane) OTS Tune v108 for the past couple years. I have no boost gauge, just the AP v2 which from what I have been told is accurate. The car runs a bit lean with this tune. I tried using the OTS 93 Stage 2 tunes, however I overboost a bit with the regular tune and underboost a lot with the LWG tune. Boost pill is still in.

I am only looking for a safe modest street tune. My question is what other mods will I regret not getting before going for my protune? I was thinking of a Cobb SF Intake Kit and the Cobb Upper Intercooler Hard Pipe Kit as definite items. Should I also go for the 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid?

The maximum that I really want to spend is around a grand, which includes the tune. Though I do have some room to play if necessary. I already have quotes for tunes in the range of $350 to $500. I checked several options, however I may use Sean Ivey for the pro tune.

Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest the 3port. Otherwise I think you have your bases covered.

How do you know the car is lean? Do you have a wideband gauge?

Yes to all three (make sure to get the turbo inlet tube along with the SF intake kit); that will give you a nice well-rounded setup. If you're tight on funds, skip the IC pipes.

Do you have an intercooler? Pro tune is nice, but being able to keep that power run after run is pretty important

I am just making the assumption to be honest. The car is white and after a very short drive the entire back of the car gets black soot everywhere. Thats just what I was told, so it may not be true. That changes depending on the tune I use.

Thank you, I was looking at that as well. I was wondering if I really needed the upper intercooler pipes. Are they necessary considering I wont be running any monster power? Are the stock pipes good fore lets say 330 to 360 whp or 25 psi tune?

That will bring me above my current budget, unfortunately. I know the advantages but I wont be tracking the car or anything. Its more for street use and the get up and go when I want it Though if I can find one that is decent priced I may look into it.

This means it is running rich, not lean. Nothing to worry about.

That makes a bit more sense to me. Thanks!

Does anyone think that the Upper Intercooler Pipes are worth it?

Thanks. Definitely going with the ebc as I need some sort of failsafe in my opinion. The current exhaust is full. The Perrin High Flow is a one piece downpipe & cat and I have the Buschur SS catback attached to that

I may skip the hard pipes and go for the intake, turbo inlet tube and ebc. Then get tuned with a modest and safe street tune. Worst case if I get other parts in the future (i.e. hard pipes and Intercooler) I will get a re-tune

Unless any vendors on the forum want to give me a fantastic deal

You can add the hard piping kit later on after your tune, they don't make that big of a change so you should be good to go just installing them The complete intake setup and 3-port BCS are going to be more advantageous for you at this point.
