Stage 1 CHFF 93 Octane Data Log: Please Review!
Hi guys,
Just flashed to the Stage 1 93 octane CHFF Map on my 2012 GSR. I use to have an AP on my 2011 WRX but don't recall how to correctly read these log files.
I'm seeing multiple counts of Knock Sum from 1-2. Is this something to be worried about? And I hit 25.3 psi on one pull but the rest were around 23-24 solid in regards to maximum boost and tapered down to 17 or so as it should.
If Cobb or some Evo vets could check these out I would greatly appreciate it I just want to make sure all is well with this OTS tune. Thanks so much guys!

I am in the right spot for getting Data Logs reviewed right? Mods feel free to move this into the main Evo X Engine Management / Tuning Forums section if need be. I just want to be sure my tune is running safely, thanks guys =)

Did a few more pulls tonight and seeing same thing. 1-2 counts of knock sum showing up or through the 3-4K RPM range and then again some 1-2 counts up at the top end as well. Here is the latest log which had the most knock sum count in it.
If Cobb or any other tuner know's what to look for and can clarify if this tune looks alright I would really appreciate it

1 or 2 knock is normal because our engine makes lot of noises so its normal to see 1 or 2. Logs looks good boost will sometimes be off +- 1.5 PSI its normal too,
as long as you stick with cobb parts and cobb instructions you will enjoy the OTS map trouble free.

Thanks so much for checking the logs out I'll definitely stay within the tune parameters. I just wasn't sure if seeing 1-2 counts of knock sum fairly consistent was normal on these cars. Must say this map really woke the car up Love it for sure...

I just took a look at the logs and everything looks good. Typically 1-2 counts of knock is not something to be too terribly concerned with on these cars. As long as you don't see really high values or knock sum increasing with RPM, then you should be good.

The knock sum count increased to 4 and was showing consistently under WOT at the top end of the power band. I spoke with Cobb and we believe it was a bad batch of gas. I ran till nearly empty this morning and filed up at the nearest Shell station. I reflashed the map and drove for about 30 minutes and did this first data log.
I started low in 3rd gear and continued till the end of 4th gear. In 3rd gear the knock sum has dramatically improved but I still have some up top in 4th. I would greatly appreciate any input you guys could give on this one and how everything looks
Oh and lastly I'm running the Stage 1 CHFF 93 Octane map, just curious if the Cobb High Flow Filter map is not quite as stable as the regular 93 octane map with stock filter? Haven't seen too many people on here with this setup for comparison and I know how sensitive our intakes systems are to change. Thanks!!!

You will want to keep an eye on gas. Sunoco is definitely the gold standard for consistency. Give it a little more time with some better gas. Shell can be spotty..at least from my experience. Your logs looked good from the first post, as these cars pull 1-2 counts consistently stock. If your mods are the same...ambient temps are relatively consistent...car is mechanically sound...it really looks like a gas issue. Our cars are very sensitive to this. Couple that with MIVEC maps that are on the aggressive side and you can see knock sum fluctuate.
They key here is awareness. A transient spike in the value is likely to be a non-issue. You are looking for knock sum values that are consistent and run in an ascending trend. For example knock sum values over a given rpm may be 00000010000002000010001100...this is transient and likely OK
000100222223333444666667778...this is an 'event' and should be rectified
Hope this helps a bit. The Cobb guys are top notch and will make sure you are running safely. I can always help you gain a better understanding of calibration work if you need/desire the help, or send you any map tweaks(free) .
Regards,
John
