Other 16" wheels that will fit Evo

For a dedicated drag setup, I'm so tempted to order one 16x8 RPF1 wheel with a 32 offset and see if it will fit over the stock Brembo brakes.

I know the RX7 wheel fits with 20mm spacers on the front but it would be nice to find a wheel where no spacers are needed. I know CCW makes a set that DB ran but those are WAY pricey. Any other suggestions for a 16" wheel that will fit?

Few links I found on 16" wheels
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-rims-evo.html

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/dr...fd-wheels.html

And yeah, I know about the MT moto slicks and the new 17" slicks coming out but it may be awhile before we see those.

Speaking of motorcycle slicks, anyone still running those? Any issues?

You want as close to +38 as possible to reduce scrub radius. Check out ce28s and the ccws

CE28's and CCW's are out of my price range. I'd like to keep it under 230 per wheel like the RPF1. Thats why the RX7 wheels are so popular since they're cheap. I figure with the 20mm spacers those RX7 wheels are a +30 offset in the front and +50 in the back without spacers which is ugly IMO.

Thanks Ernie.

Good luck with looking. I was looking for something like this also. But in the end I bought some RX7 rims at a steal of a price. Couldn't pass them up. I do like the rota slipstreams. But I don't know if they make them in the offset for our cars in a 16. Also don't we have to look at the wieth of the rim to?

Yeah, trying to keep the width at 8". 7" would be fine too but I doubt they would clear.

Good info. Any idea how much they weigh?

Trying to stay around 15lbs per wheel. Thus the Mazda wheels are so tempting. Even with a 2 lb spacer, thats 17 lbs for the reinforced rx7 wheel or 15 lbs with the lighter non reinforced wheel.

15.8 for the rim. and dont forget even though the spacer will be around 2lbs the QTP tire u should use is only 18lbs as where your reg street tires are 23 to 26lbs.

now add up the saving's. 15.8 + 2 x's 2 =s 35.6lbs and 31.6lbs for the rear. VS a stock BBS 17.7lb rim and a 25lb ''my nitto 555r tire weight'' tire that =s 42.7lbs x's 4 is 170.8 and the rx-7/qtp combo is only 134.4lbs. a 36.4 100% rotation mass savings.

did i do that right? HAHAHAH.

Yep. My old 17" setup with motorcycle slicks only weighed 28lbs. The wheel was 15 and the tire was 13. No spacers. I never got to run them though.

Good point on the weight savings.

What 17 inch rim did you have that was 15lbs. Was it a 17x8?

I've noticed you talking about scrub radius a lot lately. I know what it is, but more curious about the implications of a positive scrub compared to stock? I've read that if you have more braking torque on one side or the other, the car will pull hard with a + scrub radius but that's all I know at the moment... Care to explain?

i rather just buy the smaller brakes and swap it out for track days much cheaper and gives you alot more wheel options.im not talking about wilwoods either

Not an option. Brembo's will be staying and its a part of what makes the Evo. You can fit a 16x8 wheel over them so there's no need to go to a smaller brake setup IMO. If the car was purely for drag use then yeah, I'd be going with a smaller brake setup.
