2-step process..

I have been driving sticks since i was 14. But i never heard of the "2 step" untill i joined here. I searched through nearly 15 pages and didnt find what exactly the steps are. I hear people use the term 2step a lot, but dont know excatly what it is, or how to do it. Help me out here.

first thing is... are you tuned ? what year is your evo ?

if you have been flashed, then basically... put the clutch to the floor, be totally stopped and in first gear....

keeping the clutch down... push down the gas and you will hit your stationary rev limit which most tuners set between 5000 and 6000 rpm.

do not try if you are not tuned or dont have a IX

03-04 Evo's did not come with the stationary rev limiter from the factory. You can of course get tuned/flashed for it. It depends on your mods but 5500-6000 is generally where most set it at.

How to "2-step"

1. buy an Evo
2. If its an 03-04 get a tune
3. Be on a level surface with the evo completly stopped
4. push the clutch to the floor.(step1)
5. floor gas(2nd step)
6. realse clutch til you feel it grab then dump it
7. drive it like you stole it.

If you suck at launching you'll either burn your clutch and have a nasty smell for a while or the drivetrain will exlpode.

happy launching!

Why buy AWD if you just wanna race from a roll? The evo, gsx, tsi, any awd, shines from a stop.

the 2 step or launch control is simple:
1) from a complete stop push the gas pedal to the floor. You will notice the car will rev to 5000 rpm.
2) Feather, or remove your foot slowly from, the clutch and GO! DO NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH!

The best way to to learn how to launch is by practicing, YOU are the driver people will give you their own opinions how they drive their cars. Just practice

correct me if i am wrong... but was it not set at like 7500 or something like that ?

edit... i stand corrected, just looked at one of my 05 bases i have.... it is set at 5000 as well. So, refer to my first post, but do not 2 step unless its an acd equipped car on a stock rom, or a modded rom

2 step will kill the stock clutch, its rough on the car, but just like regular launching is rough.
