I got 175,000 miles out of my Evo at ~350 whp.

I decided to pull the motor because compression was 120 in two cylinders. I could have kept going, but the rear main seal was leaking, the belts needed to be changed and I didn't want to throw good money after bad. Now I'm throwing good money after good lol.

Im at least 100k+ miles too pushing 350+-whp. Im hitting 158k this week.
My tuner (well known famous EVO tuner) recommended i do a the bottom end if i go bigger turbo. He doesnt recommend to push the bottom end at my mileage either. (compression was never checked, its his experiance talking)

mines set at around 450hp for the last 10k miles with no issues except a few little things. my radiator cracked about 600 miles ago (in December?) and about 3 weeks ago a coil pack went out for whatever reason. more than anything its probably just how the car is treated.

i kinda LOL'd when i read this. 1st off, Its "FIC" and not "FID"...thot it was a typo till i saw it again later in the email. Then theres the topic of convo. Running Ethanol is NEVER a bad thing no matter what your setup is. This is where the tuner comes in and adjusts the maps accordingly, and to be quite honest, this should be a walk in the park for any tuner, not just a good one haha... The only parts that are a must when running Ethanol, would be your fuel system, just for the fact that ethanol burns faster, requiring more to be pumped, in turn requiring bigger injectors to deliver it. Other than that, you would just be maxing the turbo out, which everyone does anyways, except atleast with ethanol you will be able to keep detonation under wraps easier. Ifanything, running ethanol will help prevent throwing a Rod or spinning a bearing...SMH

It's probably blown up by now.

125 PSI on all cylinders isn't great.

What's it supposed to be?
Nobody bothered mentioning it.

A bit of googling says 163 with a minimum of 149 being the max difference of 14 PSI

That may be true with stock cams, but he has upgraded intake and exhaust cams. There may be overlap that is causing the lower compression. They are all at same compression, which is a good sign.

As I recall, HKS cams 274in, 278ex. are aggressive cams.

Downgraded cams, fitted wrong.

Sure you'll lose a bit of comp with a hotter (longer duration) cam but going from stock to 272 ish isn't going to make a lot of difference to comp numbers, if any.

It's not the overlap that drops the numbers, it's the intake valve closing point.
What's the point in a compression test if you can't interpret the results?

My evo 9 makes 120 psi to all 4. Is my 56k mile engine dead too? I have stock cams and a Vishnu tune. I haven't checked with my new local tune. How does my low compression make 430 hp? So should I make 500hp if my compression is normal at 140 psi?

IXs run lower numbers. My engine is brand new with s1 cams and runs 145ish (would need look it up to make sure).
a low compression engine can make plenty power. It just may take more boost and have slower spool.

Vishnu. There's a name I haven't heard in a while...

A IX is different because it's got VVT on the intake cam.

You've got different problems
