Hey guys, I have an 03 Evo 8 and I have my 2 step currently set at 5500 and when I do the 2 step, it bounces off the limiter very slowly....whenever I tune cars, and I engage their 2 steps, their 2 step is very quick and bounces off the limiter a lot faster than mine. Any input on why this can be? Any other parameters of the ECU affect the launch control? Thank you, any help is appreciated!

my buddy has an 03 and his car does the same thing,, i dont no how true this is but we were told the richer your car is the slower it will bounce and visa versa so the leaner the quicker

well i guess i'll check it out tomorrow but i already tuned the damn thing to about mid 11's for the a/f ratio but i guess i'll check the fuel and timing maps for the 2 step....what load you think this would be at? RPM = 5000 load = what range do you suppose?

there are no specific timing and fuel maps for the two step revlimiter. I wish there was, so i could retard ignition timing a lot more and richen it up a lot more. I get about 10 knock counts everytime i hit the 2step. By retarding timing and richening up, you not only soften the 2step, but you can spool the turbo a lot faster and make more boost in a shorter period of time. This is good, because the faster i can build boost, the less i have to be standing on the 2step. But the stock ECU does not have this option unlocked yet...although i'm sure it's there somewhere. The ECU has to have 2step protocols locked away somewhere that are editable. We just don't have those options yet.

It's safe in stock form to a certain extent, but i would not stand on it very long......

Interesting enough, i would like to do the same thing for the revlimiter. Retard timing and richen it up a lot more. This will soften the fuel cut and act as a anti-lag in between gears.

I Do Not Understand Why You Guys Are Calling It A Step. Its Not. Its A Stationary Rev Limit. A Genuine 2 Step Cycles Between Two Different Rpms. That Stationary Rev Limit Is Not Cycling Between Two Rpms Its Just Bouncing Back And Forth Off The Set Numer Andback Down, I Know This For A Fact Cause I Got Into A Huge Rgument With Alfred From Tuning Technologies About This. So Just To Shed A Little Light.;

to add to the info, ive noticed that if you dont push the pedal all the way down, its a little slower then when its all the way, and it doesnt build as much boost. LOG it and check your TPS during it and see what that looks like.

Also, when at the track.... i dont hit the "2 step" stationary rev limiter until my tree starts... so you figure maybe a second or so of time in that mode, while prepping to launch i just bounce the rpm's up around 3 or 4 or so, so the delay isnt bad.

yeah i'll def. try all these recommendations when I get my car back and also...so there's no way i can do anti-lag to help it out maybe..like richen or retard the timing on the 2 step..no area for that on our stock ecu??
