272/272 + Mivec = smooth Idle??

Has anyone played with Mivec at idle to calm down aggressive cam? I have Cosworth 272/272 in my Evo 9. I tried to increase overlap and the car just idle worse. I was thinking about retarding timing and increasing overlapping?? Has anyone else had better results?? The idea is to get rid of the CE light..

I have the GSC 280's and my idle is just as smooth as stock with the intake cam set @ 0 from 500-1000rpm. I did advance the timing to 16.2 to see what kind of effect it had, all it did was add more lope to the idle.

I run these with 9* of ignition advance and with 0's in the idle cells on the VVT map and it's pretty smooth (just a tiny bit lopier than stock). No trouble codes.

If you do this and still experience a very rough idle, you may have injector scaling/latency issues to resolve. Check your "O2 Feedback" trim at idle as a start.

You can also crank up your target idle some to compensate. Like PD1 said increasing idle timing will help. You cant actually retard the intake cam as 0* is all the further back it goes.

I'm going to try fix it first myself because I'm try to learn this software. I've tuned with AEM but this is completely different because I'm used to PSI and not (Engine load %)

This help is greatly appreciated.

Increase timing at idle (10-12° for example) with no MIVEC overlap for a smoother idle, I have the Cosworth M2's as well and hey can idle pretty smoothly.

mivec can be set as low as -1.2 deg. every bit helps for big cams.
