Lightbulb PATCH: NLTS + Valet + KnockCEL

Hi All,

I have decided to release the NLTS patch as donation-ware. There are several reasons for this which I won't go into here but suffice to say I HOPE that people who use this do donate for the cause.

My philosophy is 'Donate what your think its worth, and what you can afford' - donation link at bottom of post

INSTRUCTIONS
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh....php?p=4830835 Thanks Zach

WHAT YOU GET:
Knock CEL - exactly the same as my previous patch
Valet/Security Mode - This allows YOU to enforce a pre-set rev limit on the car without reflashing, great for when handing the keys over to parking attendants or even when parking in unscrupulous areas.
No lift to shift - This allows YOU to change gears without lifting off the throttle, making gear shifts slightly faster and more importantly holding more boost between each shift.

HOW DO YOU USE IT:
KnockCEL - Shouldn't need explaining!
Valet/Security Mode - Turn the ignition to ON but DO NOT start the car, hold the TPS @ 100% for the pre-set amount of time (default 10 seconds), CEL will flash when system is enabled. Same proceedure to disable.
NLTS - The system will enable when you reach the preset TPS and Speed thresholds AND press down on the clutch. It is setup to use the TOP clutch switch so you need to be very affirmative when getting on and off the clutch otherwise you will look like a tool

Personally I find the top clutch switch very sensitive - almost to the point where I am considering extending the switch (by way of a spring) so that the switch doesn't activate until the clutch is pushed a bit more down...

TESTING IT YOURSELF:
- Set the Speed to 0 km/h
- Set the TPS to 20%
- Set the RPM Drop to 1000
- Flash and start car
- Rev to 2500 RPM
- Push clutch
- Car should drop RPM to 1500 and hold it there like your stationary rev limiter...

PRE-PATCHED ROMS:
88590015 TESTED by JohnBradley, ohhgyeahfasho, XBS
96940011 TESTED by bnice01, Drifto, logic
94170008 TESTED by bnice01, linuxman51
94170014 TESTED by bnice01, phenem
94170015 TESTED by Magnumpsi
88840016 TESTED by al\lupo
88590013 TESTED by DrSmile
96420008 UNTESTED
88580014 UNTESTED
88570008 UNTESTED
88590014 UNTESTED

I will be posting up the pre-modified stock roms as I get around to patching them. And once I get time

CAVEATS/BUGS:
ENDIAN BS with ECUFLASH - Use the XML provided which matches your EcuFlash version.
DELETE YOUR OLD XML FROM THE PREVIOUS KNOCKCEL PATCH BEFORE YOU EDIT YOUR NEW ROM

DISCLAIMER:
If you don't understand ANY of this DON'T FLASH, please ask questions in this thread! Also if you get ANY WEIRD/UNEXPECTED results then flash back to stock! If your car explodes don't blame me

DONATIONS:
As I said before donate whatever you think its worth + whatever you can afford!!!
Paypal (donations at globalshare dot net)

Cheers
Dave

Oh man! You are definitely going to get serious brownie points with this group. If you get a ROM ID that matches mine on your list and I get this working, this payday i will more than gladly toss money via paypal. I was going to pay for this anyways. Can't wait to try it man. Kudos.

what does the NLTS actually do?
Why can't we just not lift off the pedal when shifting now? I've never tried.

Please donate to tephra! This is not easy stuff and we need to show some financial appreciation for tephra and other like contributors that do so much work to get these awesome mods for our cars.

Nice job! Expect a donation from me soon. Is there a way to disable the NLTS?

I think he stated in an earlier post that it could be enabled/disabled in ECU flash.

Because if you mis-shift and bounce off of your rev limiter (some are in the 8K+ rpm range) You can do some serious harm to your engine. Plus its better to have your RPM's more closely matched to the starting point of your next gear. So if it rev's down to roughly 5500-6000rpm and your next gear starts at 5500rpm....its a MUCH smoother transition (rev matched). Think of it NOT as a rev limiter but more of a "rev reducer limit". Basically its safety and simplicity at once.

Uploaded 88590015, 94170008 and 96940011

If you flat shift without NLTS then your engine delivers full power to the drive train - with NLTS the engine power is cut for the duration of the shift so you risk less damage to the drivetrain.

You can disable it in Ecuflash by way of setting the enable flag to 0 - in the future I want to have a button in car to enable disable it on the fly, however setting the TPS to 95% seems to be good enough for those shifts where you DON'T want to NLTS

Just set the NLTS rev limit the same as your normal rev limit and that should basically disable it.

Tephra - It is awesome that you are doing this as donation ware, I will definitely be making a donation, thanks.
