Indeed you are. This is a MAP sensor. It is used to log boost.

Wow I'm confused but you're not entirely correct either, it's not used to log boost, it could be if you rewrite your map and use a jdm MAF. Older hondas like b16, b18 are non turbo and use a MAP only. it's a MAP sensor, "Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor". It's there to calculate air density and determine the engine's air mass flow rate(MAF). In my Rx7 I used a Haltech E6x which replaced the MAF with a 4bar MAP. So going back to square one do you need a MAF when running a 3bar MAP and rewriting the ecu map?

yes, you still need your MAS. The MAP is used solely for logging.

At least you know how to search. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAP_sensor

35revo is correct. The 3 bar MAP sensor is used to log boost....

Currently the JDM 3 bar MAP sensor is used to:

1) Log boost (the stock 1 bar MAP sensor is good only to 2 psi of boost)

2) Control boost

It can also be used as part of a MAF to MAP conversion, but there there are only a few people out there with custom patches for the conversion. There is no publically available patch yet.

The 3 Bar MAP sensor does not replace the MAS and is not solely for logging.

The 3 Bar MAP sensor replaces the standard 1 Bar sensor and when installed correctly will perform all the same functions as the 1 Bar PLUS give you the added ability to log boost.

As stated earlier there are a few guys doing it but haven't worked all the bugs out yet so nothing has been released for general consumption yet. LOL On a sad note I was informed that one of the guys who did it first blew his motor on his first attempt to tune it.

No name calling please.

MAP is a standard of measuring load on non-MAF systems but the sensor can also read PSIa as PSI in order to log pressure on the charge. I'm not sure the range of the sensor (I use a 10bar) or if it is zeroed to 1atm and reads in/Hg as -PSI as mine does, but the sole purpose of using one is for tuning from logged boost, in most cases on an MAF system, that's it.

Anyone know if MrFred is still selling the 3 bar MAP sensors? I've pm'd and emailed him and have not gotten a response...I read he had them cheaper than mitsubishiparts.net.

This sensor was going for $125 "shipped" but they kept increasing the price.
Now it's over $50 more??? Ridiculous...

$152.02 + $18.24 for shipping...on something that's small & weights a few onces!
