Thumbs up Another idle problem with A/C on.

Hi all,

I am running into a situation that I have not been able to fix on my IX. It seems that I nailed down the idle with A/C off and on while the car is not running, but every other time my car stalls and shut off with the A/C while running.

Here is the scenario: When cruising 3000-5000 RPMs and I had to stop at a Stop sign or traffic light... once I press the clutch to place the car in neutral, the car will go stright to 0 RPMs shutting off the engine. On some other occassions, the engine from 3-5K RPMs will drop to 500 RPMs and bounced back to 1500 RPMS, go down to 700 RPMs and bounce back to 1100 RPMs and then stabilized to around 1000 RPMs (Target RPM).

Here are some details:

1. SAS mode - Car has 900 +/- 50 RPMs
2. I advanced the timing at idle to 10*.
3. No P0300 code is triggered.
4. Target dle, ISCV steps, etc as the picture below.

Any hints suggestins will be greatly appreciated!

have you done a boost leak check? your throttle body shaft seals may be leaking, or the ISC is dirty or malfunctioning.

Thumbs up

Mods are: Ported Head and valve job, Ported IM & Exhaust manifold, FPGreen, PTE780, BR TBE, BR UICP, Nisei LICP, BR Intake/Filter and GSC S2s.

All trims except O2 feedback are 0 +/- 1 with Mitsulogger.

AFRs at idle are 14.4-15.8 and 11.4-11.6 at WOT (Stable)

tephra,

Do you suggest to increase the idle engine speed using SAS to about 1000 RPMs?

You can't use the SAS BISS screw setting since thats for stock cams. Adjust the BISS with the car running normally and not on the SAS mode until you get 1000rpm from it. We have had to do this on numerous cars including some stock cammed 03's. Its seeming to become a more common issue. Even my car is doing it. The other thing you can do is richen the idle a little (13.0-13.5) by letting it idle in open loop.

JB,

The thing is that the car will idle very nice at 1000 RPMs while not running with A/C off and on. Even cruising with A/C off is no problem, it seems that the problem starts when the A/C is on while getting the car into neutral creates a sudden RPM drop to stall or shut off the engine. Very anoying. :-)

I will try to decrease the AFRs at idle to see if it improves the situation.

Under the ISCV initial step fields.... What does higher the number means?

If I increase that number, the duty cycle inclease on the ISCV.... thus resulting in higher RPMs. Am I right on that assumption?
