Omni 4 bar MAP sensor ROM compatibility settings for USDM Evo 8/9
#226
101 kPa is atmospheric pressure at seal level. Anything less than atmospheric is considered vacuum.
Since the MAP sensor measures absolute pressure, it provides a value that would require converting to gauge, where gauge = absolute - atmospheric.
I just provided what I read on the tool (MAP). And you are correct - with the engine off, it says I'm pulling a vacuum.
Thanks for the response.
Does anyone else running a 4 bar have access to a scan tool that can read live values?
Thanks again,
Paul

Quick question. Trying to add the omni 4 bar into evoscan so I can log boost. The problem is after loading in all the info it won't let me save it. It says "there is an error with the original .XML file and it cannot be saved until corrected."
I did just load tephra v7. Not sure if that may have something to do with it. When I loaded tephra I put the xml file in the rommetadata folder with all the other xml files that are in the evo folder. Then pointed ecuflash to the .bin file and then flashed it to my ecu. Car fired up and runs fine so I guess I loaded tephra correctly.
Any ideas?? Thanks in advance..

EvoScan and ECUFlash are completely separate entities. Your issue is somewhere in EvoScan.
It seems like when it says xml error, it is referring too the evoscan2.9/data settings folder. Was I supposed to copy the tephra .xml file into that directory as well?? I'm not even sure that loading tephra has anything to do with all this, I'm just putting it out there to add as much detail as possible.
Thanks for the replies and sorry for all the newb questions. I'm just getting into the logging/tuning aspect of everything and want to make sure I get off to a good start.

I need help wiring my omnipower 4 bar map sensor on my jdm evo 8 MR. It does not come with a stock map sensor from factory. The ecu is 3 Plug ecu.
Currently I have wired it to pin 92 on my ecu as it was empty and was recommended by someone but I am not sure. Some people wire it to 72. Getting confused here.
Any help and advise will be highly appreciated.

Looking at the "MAP vs Baro" and "MAP Comparison" tables trying to figure out exactly what they are for.
Is it possibly that MAP vs Baro is the ECU units at atmospheric pressure and MAP Comparison is the sensor voltage at atmospheric pressure. But, then why would you need both?
Does anybody actually know what the two tables are?

MAP vs barometer is a value comparing the reading from the omni vs a reading taking place inside of the maf sensor. You got me on the second one tho.

Has anyone every noticed only the 94170014 and 94170015 says to change:
MAP Test 1: Mid VE High Voltage Test -- Change from 4.61 volts to 4.80 volts.
But all the other roms it says to change:
MAP Test 1: Mid VE High Voltage Test -- Change from 4.61 volts to 4.90 volts.
Does this make a difference? Maybe it's been brought up before. IDK.
