ROM 88840017 - JDM MAP and TE 2J1 WB

Hi folks
Thanks for your interess. Thanks for giving me many nights of reading all the great stuff here in the EcuFlash part of the evolutionm forum.

My car are allready running quit well but I will be happy to be able go further now. I defently need to be able to log AFR and Boost into EvoScan.

1)
Tephra have sugested me to use a patch to disable error codes from the rear O2 sensor and then connect the analog output from my TechEdge 2J1 wideband sensor to the ECU input instead. Leaving the heater wiered to the rear O2 to aviord error codes from heater.
The math formula for the TE 2J1 sensor are provided so it should be possibel to get the WB voltage translated to AFR.

2)
I am looking for a solution to wire a JDM MAP sensor to the ECU, The Euro EVO do not have the mounting hole for a MAP sensor in the IM, but I will create a flange whit a horse nippel for the JDM MAP sensor.
My issue here is:
a) how do I wire it up to the ECU?
b) will I need any ROM chance to be able to log into EvoScan?

3) when I am able to log the above I have a 3-way boost solenoid ready to mount for optimal boost control.

I need a mentor her, to advice me during the process.

So fare my ROM has only ben tuned - not patched.

Sugestion and advice are welcom.

I will make documentation during the process and ofcuse post all up here.

Thanks GiGas

Hello GiGas

I had the same problem an I solved it this way:

a) Wire the sensor signal to the pin 92 of the ECU. Even the EDM ECU is prepared for a pressure sensor. Then you can directly log it from the standard value in EvoScan (eventaully you have to change the scaling parameters, but there is a lot of documentation on that)
For the 5V input you can use one of the free 5V pins

b) Non ROM chance to log at all. Everything is ready, only the sensor is missing
If you really want to use it for control purposes, then I'm not sure.
Personally I just use it for logging

2) the 3-way boost solenoid you can mount before wiring the sensor if you want. If you do, please follow tzhe instruction of thsi forum and you'll have no big problems.

Hi mlocatel.
Sounds great that the ECU indput are prepared.
a) did you finde the connector cap to be used at the MAP sensor?
and how about the pin's to crimp on the wire in the ECU end?.

I will take a closer look into it on the car's ECU.
Anyone know where to finde the ECU pinouts?. (links)

3) I prefere to pospone the 3-way step until I am able to log 1) and 2).

This is the ECU pinn-out.

I recommend to get your ECU pins from here:

http://www.dsm-ezine.com/evo9pins.html

You will need 3 Pin ecu “Evo 9 Type” .

You need also some wire, 2m of Black, Red and some other colour.

MAP sensor has 3 wires, 5v, 0v and signal.Red wire for 5v, black for 0v and the other colour for signal.

For the 3 Plug ECU (Evo 9 type):
Remove middle plug from ecu.
Pin for 5v (Pin 42 - Green) – Solder Red Wire to this wire
Pin for Chassis Ground/0v (Pin 46 – Black) – Solder Black wire to this wire
Find Pin Hole for Signal wire Pin (Pin 92) – Release Securing clip (orange plastic clip, doesn’t need to be fully removed just pulled up a little one side) on ecu connector. Push new pin in hole 92 and re-secure clip.
Re-fit Plug to ECU

There is a Evoscan formula (0.019224*x-1.47065) to get a pressure reading in BAR

The right pinnout is:
92 = signal
42 = power
49 = ground

It would be much easier to use a GM/Apexi map sensor and just wire that to the ECU. To log the boost you just use a corrected formula in Evoscan.

If you want to add a JDM 3 bar map to your car remove your manifold and drill and tap the holes for the OEM sensor, then it can be fitted.

Thanks GiGas

You are going to use JDM 3 bar or GM?

Any alternative sugestions for:
1) wiring up the analog WB signal to the Ecu, are there any free indput ports on the Ecu ?
As of to day I have no error codes from the rear O2 sensor and now where I have ordred some pin's to connect the MAP sensor I start thinking that maby it is as simpel as just connect my WB analog output to a free AD port on the Ecu.

2) anyone have a part number for the EvoX MAP sensor - our local Mitsubishi dealer cant finde it whit out a VIN number for a EvoX.

Thanks GiGas

I have a brand new JDM map sensor

If you want it just send me a PM if you have a paypal address

Hi Gigas

I did the same thing after I order the pins.

I get in contact with Jamie after 10 days but it was already late because the pins arrived into that day anyway.

It was something like 2 weeks until the pins arrived to me.

Just got a mail to day confirm that my ordre are shipped

Anyone know how to get a wire/connector cap for the JDM MAP sensor? Local Mitsubishi dealer cant help. Are the same type used on other standard sensors?

Hopefully I can start wireing up next week.

To day I managed to make a mounting base for the 3 Bar JDM MAP sensor.

I have chosen to do this in a simple way, but there are many options to solve this part.

Pictures tell more than words, so please look in my photo album to see my solution.

Still no one has bid on where I can buy the connector that fits on the sensor?

Impressive.....

I was thinking that you will use a 2G MAP sensor adapter from JMF

What you will need is a bosch male 3 pin connector (1254487003).

I think it look s like that but I am not sure.

You can check for this on VW AUDI dealer shop.

This conncector is used by Audi I think from a Knock sensor so you know what to ask for.

Also if you are not lucky to find this bosch connector I think you can order a plug and play connector from Zeitronix. You can use the connector from MAP side and make the ECU pins at the end of the wires.

Hi Daniel
Nope - the VAG connector has round pin's. I will try to look up the (1254487003) and see if that will fit.
Looks like the Bosch cap No 1280703022 are the right one - I will try to finde one and test.

The cabel has an male part. But that pic indicate answer for my next question :-) so Iam guessing that red = Vcc, black = Gnd, Green = Output.

What I lack is the socket which fineds on cable in the USDM or EDM evo's. it is a female.
