phantom knock on shifts how to fix

Hi guys I’ve just been logging my Evo 7 the last few days as I only just got my cable

And I have to say my tuner has done a alright job on my tune as I’m getting no knock all the way thought the rev range which is great sometimes a 1 or 2 but nothing over 3. Everything seems pretty spot on.

But I’m about 80 % sure I’m getting pretty bad phantom knock on shifts into next gear which can jump to like 40 to 100 knock as I logged it and it is always just after I shift for less than one sec just 1 quick line up on graph
My tuner was having an issue with it when he was tuning my car and he thought he fixed it but it doesn't look like he has

If I’m getting that type of knock count the ECU will be pushing me onto low octane and timing map won't it

Is there any way of fitting this issue as I want to upload a new rom with a more timing and log for true knock?

Or is it time for a new knock sensor

I'm so keen to put TephraMod and this ralliart tune I found on the net with 300 loads

If anyone can looks over my ROM and new one tempura one and tell me if they think I will have much issue if I flash over old rom
Stock rom is 98640014
The one I’m planning to patch to is 90550001 with tephramod can I do this or do I have to copy **** to my 98640014?

i thought knock was capped at 36? I don't think you can log above 36 counts of knock.

You can tune around this by lowering timing in the load cells the ECU reads between shifts. I am sure more people can chime in on this.

not always best for "most power" but i understand where ur coming from - better be safe than sorry.

yes u should switch to 9055 there is a lot of support for that rom.

check out the picture below - try this to get rid of knock (copy to high octane map) :

the timing will need to be customised to suit ur application though, but the general idea is to reduce timing in the shift cells as MR turco said. report back and let me know if it solved your problem.

Welcome aboard... the first step is to SEARCH

After that, you can try something like rolly posted, although I would smooth it in a little more unless you really require that big timing hole.

Are you sure you are not misinterpreting a scaled 4 knock count as 40? (4x10 display calc)

Care to elaborate on that? So you are saying if its knocking (string of a few 1s and add maybe 2 2s in there) at lets say 5 degrees of timing under peak boost and the ecu pulls it down to 4, that will make more power than just having that value set at 4 on the timing map?...

sorry reading another post ...what i am trying to say is at 1 or 2 counts of knock the ecu does not pull timing and you can get away with that extra degree of timing - at least in my experience.

maybe worth some whp.

Interesting. Suppose you're cruising in 3rd gear at 5500rpms, and then decide to roll on the throttle quickly (ie: in autocross you're using most of the map). Won't the huge jumps in timing be enough to throw knock with this solution--going from 31 degrees to 10?

i'll post a log tomor it was superhigh after shift cause
When i ran a graph of knock vs Rmp it just after each redlight shift one line of spike knock up to around 40 then right back to no knock again
Car has been running this tune for nearly 2 years so i'm not to worried about it being real knock as something would have gone by now
More just want to clean it up so i don't go on low maps
Attached is a Copy of my Tune atm I think it may have had timing pulled already to try and zero out the knock on shift
