There are 3 maps and 2 of them are identical. One of the identical ones doesn't work.
Other two are for N,1,2 and for 3,4,5 gears, respectively.

Thanks. My next question, does anyone know how to alter the ROM such that one table does N, 1-3 and the other does 4-5?

1-2 and 3-4-5 isn't best division, but it's way better than 1-2-3 and 4-5.

Hi guys...

I am looking at the shift speed maps and trying to figure out under what circumstances the 4 sets get used. Does anyone have any idea?

I could guess that the INVECS II selects a map based on some history of how you have driven in the past but it would be a guess.

It's a bit of a mix. But 1 set is auto, 1 set is in tiptronic, 1 set is when brake is pressed (the downshift maps, like downhill and braking) not sure what the upshift maps do in this scenario. 4th set (and there is probably other maps we have yet to find that make other little adjustments) is probably a variant of the first map for auto learning between the 2 (min/Max)

That's my assumption, never got around to testing them tbh

I'm not so sure but I'll make a few changes to see what happens.

The tiptronic shouldn't need a map as you decide when it changes up and down.
The 4 map series have 'up shift' and 'down shift' maps.

Map Series 1 and 3 are most aggressive (3 most aggressive) on the up shift (but identical on down shift)

Map Series 2 and 4 look like the 'granny' and 'grandad' maps (2 is most mild) on the up shift (but identical on down shift)

I increased the map series 1 and 3 on the up shift by 20% when TPS is below around 80%

The problem I was trying to resolve was that with my straight through 2.5" stainless exhaust, there was a drone at low revs when the engine was labouring (shifting up too soon) so I wanted to keep the box in a lower gear a little longer.

I tested it this morning and the car felt a lot more responsive, less or no drone and the gear shifts seemed to be at higher speeds.

Now I want to modify the down shift maps so it drops down at a slightly higher speed.

From what I know, you have to modify both the shift pressure AND shift time tables. I've tried experimenting with shift pressure tables on a client's Airtrek, moving the shift points up about 30-40%. It worked at first and he was happy, but after about a day of drive the AT began to shift extremely roughly. I've restored the original maps back and rough shifting was gone instantly. Guess this has something to do with AT "learning" something.
Didn't have time for further experiments.

Are you talking about shift pressure + time or speed/gear change? I thought you were talking about speed gear change, as tiptronic will have speed gear change maps (so you can't force it into 5th gear at 30km/hr)
Pressure + time maps should be the same or similar on either tiptronic or auto - yes
Let me know how your results go

I am talking about shift speed (tps vs kmh)

i have modified map series 1and 3 and it helps.

What you are saying about tiptronic map sounds logical - i haven't though of it in that way but if I was programming it I would probably use a different method.

Shows how little we know about these things...
