ROM ID is 96940011, soory I don't have an XML for that, but someone will be along with the correct deffinition file. You will need to put that file into the C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo folder. That is for WIndows 7.

If it is running rich and you haven't made any major changes - then you need to look at some fault, a fault O2 sensor for example. Though the stock map is rich on boost, it should run 14.7 AFR on cruise and 12 is during spool - fix the fault first.

Hi,
96940011 is for an 2005 USDM Evo 8. It is the last of the 512K Evo ECU's . The latest version of ECuflash has that definition and xml.
The 06 and up Evo 9 use a different ECU designed with the Mivec cam system that came on the 9's. Those are 1024K version roms. Your Rom may have been locked or had the ROM version changed to stop people from reading or messing with the tune.
Here is a link to the EVOECu wiki page. http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/Downloads
The correct ecu Rom version is 88590013 or 014 or 015 for your evo, if it is indeed an 2006 Evo 9 . You need to confirm the year and model of the car as there is no reason to have an non-mivec evo 8 ecu Rom on a Evo 9 mivec car.
You can use the Tephra mod 7 that replaces the 8859xxxx for the Evo 9.
However before doing any tuning you need to fix the issues like the rear o2 sensor. Since you are a complete newbie as you say, then I would suggest contacting one of the tuners online here that do remote tunes to tune the car. That way you will be safer and end up with a decent tune. They will be able to help unlocking and /or reflashing the correct rom as well as the correct Tephra v7 version.
Hope that helps !

Copy the proper rom to the evo folder and then what? write to ecu or somethin else?
Thanks guys
I just want the correct rom in this car and then i'll have it tuned from scratch.

If you are going to tune yourself, start with tweaking your existing ROM, the tephra ROMs can be a bit overwhelming to start with. I'll have a look round for and xml for you, look at you tube for some great guides

SS1000RR is all set. I flashed the IX Tephra rom on there. Car fires right up and running stoich.
He's going to boost leak test it and fix an exhaust leak. Then I'll be tuning it within the next few days.

Glad you got a good ROM on there - I did some investigation and your original ROM is actually a (badly) tuned 88590015, so your likely better off with a tuned new ROM.
