Question Any side effects of reading OBD2 port for a longer period of time?

Hi All,

Are there any side effects of reading OBD2 port for a longer period of time (lets say like for 2-3 hours in key ON mode-engine is off)
i am just trying to create my own obd2 mut scanner for fun and scared whether this could damage my vehicle or it's ECU. my car is a 1997 Lancer MX

Thanks,
Harsha

Probably not good to keep the ignition coils energized for that long without firing.
