new laptop dumb question with EcuFlash

So i got a new laptop last on crapped out on my last laptop my files saved as a Hex file and this laptop the only option i have is SRF or Bin file so if i save it as a BIN does it need to be a .HEX file to flash it back to my ECU i hope this makes sense so say i pull my stock map.

Like ( Base Map.bin ) can i flash that back to my evo that's what it looks if i try to change the name to say Base Map.hex it still adds the .bin on the end i hope this isn't to confusing so now my maps look like (Base Map.BIN.HEX) lol i don't think that is right

Wait I get ecu flash can handle the bin. But the map I had from my last laptop was a hex but when I pull it now I can only save it as a BIN. So if I edit my map can I flash a BIN back onto my ecu or does it need to be in hex format. God this sounds confusing lol, I guess what I'm saying can the ecu handle bin and hex files or does it not matter

I use hex.
Thinking about it now, as long as OpenEcu can read the data, it should upload either; Bin or Hex.

Okay thanks guys it opens bin just fine and I can change my tables and everything and save it but then I wasn't sure if I can install the bin file back onto my ecu. I always thought it had to be a hex file because that's what my old laptop always saved it as
