Evoscan 1.3open Evo9
Hey Guys
I recently purchased EvoScan with 1.3 cable.
i've been trying to check my DTC but everytime i try it always fails to connect to ECU. This is for a Evo 9
it always displays this:
Initialize vehicle ecu OBD2 Connecting
initializing at 5 baud
initialization complete
obd2 sync byte not found
connection sucessful
no response from vehicle Ecu
just to note:
- Evoscan is able to log, ECUflash wont even connect aswell
- i have tried on multiple laptops - XP, win 7 and 8.1 all have shown the same.
- i have tried reinstalling ecuflash + evoscan and have tried multiple versions.
i am out of ideas as i bought this solely to scan DTCS and its not working.

Ya so I'm pretty sure that cable wont work to flash with EcuFlash. Openport 2.0 will. You may need to go to an older EcuFlash version for that cable to work. I have the same issue, but I just flash with Evoscan instead. You can download your map from Evoscan then just open the rom in EcuFlash, edit your map, save rom, then open Evoscan load your rom and flash from Evoscan.

Not sure if you figured this out already.
The 1.3 cables are picky. Make sure you're using a USB 2.0 port, if you only have access to 3.0 then go out buy a 2.0 hub and use that. I actually use an older Dell laptop specifically for this reason.
Also, the cable needs proper voltage. It helps to run your car for a few mins, maybe go for a drive around the block, park her then try and connect.
annd lastly, make sure you have the pin 9 removed, our cars (Evo IXs) don't need it and if you have an older cable it could fry your ETACS.
I learned all of this from the first time I connected a Tactrix to my 9.
Best of luck

As above. You can either pull pin 9 out with pliers or pull the obd plug down and cut pin 9 wire and fit it to a switch as it won't do any ayc/acd bleeding or DTCs with pin 9 connected. Pin 9 is for subs

I have had zero problems with the 1.3u but the world of problems with the 2.0
In fact the 2.0 with the 1.44 ECU Flash + Tephra v5.10 locked me out of a Evo 9 ECU but I was able to flash back to a stock ROM using EvoScan 2.9 + 1.3Tatrix cable and move to an Tephra V5.10 SD all using the 1.3, log and clear DTS.
I would roll back to Evoscan 2.7 to see if that helps.
