Ted B. Tuned - 2.0L GT35R 93oct/E85 - 530/599whp

The owner of this car is local forum member "mega_z". I agreed to tune the car for him, first with 93 octane, then (later) with E85.

2.0L
Built block - 9:0 SCR
Stock head
GT35R
Tomei 270 cams and upgraded springs
PPI ported factory intake manifold and TB
Buschur cast T3 exhaust manifold
Buschur Race 3.5" IC
Buschur (?) 3" TBE
FIC 1450
Buschur double pumper
Adjustable cam gears

The initial base tune had the car somewhere around 450whp with 93 octane and ~24psi. After a few shakedown runs, I had him make a cam timing adjustment. We then incremented the boost pressure to ~28 psi with 93 octane and ended up with a safe baseline result of 495whp:

495whp Baseline

With a new clutch, good weather and a trip back to the test course to tweak our base tune, we ended up with around 545whp on 93 octane at 28 psi.

Following that, we filled the car with E85, I made injector scaling and latency adjustments, and following some base tuning, we upped the turbo to 33psi and went to work.

I worked things up to around 600whp when the owner decided that was more than he was actually expecting, and decided to call it a day.

Those are some GREAT numbers Ted! Congrats on that tune. I am sure the owners eyes lit up once you broke the 600whp mark. Haha. When the boost kicked in it probably hit him like a punch to the gut.

Keep up the good work!

There are a couple of turbos on pump gas that can make 600whp on 93 octane like the hta3582, hta3586, pt6262, pt6765 are all suitable to do it with the right supporting mods

All he had to do was hold it down another 500 rpm to see 615-620whp.

You'd probably need some hardware help to count on that (to do it safely anyway). E85 makes some fairly impressive numbers attainable with simple setups like this one with careful tuning.

I see he is running a cast manifold. You think is worth upgrading to a tubular manifold? Nice numbers!!!

Those e85 numbers are very close to what I am seeing also. Are you maxed out on injector on e85. I was running 1350cc and at 25psi I was already seeing
~75% DC.

Just in terms of finances, there's no reason to do it at this point unless he's looking for more power.

1450s, ~85% IDC at peak power, with AFRs in the low 11s.

Ted, please include the VDR mode you are using. It is required in this section.

Thanks and great work!
