BOOSTED TUNING Custom Remote Tune - JDM EVO 8/FP Red on 98 RON

Finished tuning the car remotely a couple weeks ago. Car was from New Zealand and had a LINK G4 ECU. First time tuning the LINK G4 but I found it to be a great ECU.

-Stock Block
-Stock Head
-Stock headstuds
-Stock headgasket
-Kelford TX 272 type L camshaft (10mm intake & exhaust lift)
-GSC zero tick Lifters
-FP Red DBB ported & coated MHI housing (with Turbo blanket)
-Turbosmart internal wastegate actuator (18psi spring)
-Curt Brown ported exhaust manifold
-JMF 02 Dump pipe (titanium heat wrapped)
-Apexi N1 downpipe (titanium heat wrapped)
-STM cat delete pipe
-Apexi N1 cat back exhaust
-Custom short route intercooler pipe (wrapped in DEI heat gold reflect tape)
-Custom 4” front mount intercooler
-Tial Q blow of valve (8psi spring)
-Spoolin up C.O.P non CDI
-NGK BR8EG spark plugs
-MAC 3 port boost control Solenoid (same as Grim-speed)
-ID1000 high impedance injectors
-Walbro 255LPH fuel pump
-Link G4 (plug in ecu)

The car had slower spool then normal but that didnt affect the power. We tried a couple things to make it spool faster but to no avail.

Nice work! Only seems to be a few hundred RPM off maybe, but not bad for 500hp.

The Red has a pretty nice powerband. Is this a MAF or SD setup?

Possibly the 18psi gate slowing spool? Reds normally ship with a 25psi gate. Looks to be about 300rpm slow..

SD, since its the LINK G4 ECU

Actually, the client ordered the FP 25psi WGA and he installed it and the spool was the same, even after preloading it greatly.

I think it may be the "custom" IC affecting spool.

That looks like a solid tune

I'm reading great things about Link. When the time comes it will be a tough choice between Haltech and Link.

Have you tried Haltech? If so, which software do you prefer? Sorry for going OT.

How would you rate NZ 98 Ron vs US 93 fuel?

It would be same quality to what we have here in AUS, 98RON = US 93

FWIW 500hp = ~370kw, that's a solid 70-80kw (~100hp) higher than what anybody else in AUS has achieved on pump gas with a Red. The tuners out here must be doing something horribly wrong LOL

Yeap you are right about the power level. No one here in NZ can produce the same results either.

Dynojet figures are basically ~15% higher than the average Mainline/DD dyno we usually use here in Australia.

So thats ~317wkw, which for 28psi and those breathing mods is bang on.
I bang out 270-320wkw setups regularly on 98 octane here, so its no different really.
The last Red I did on 98 went 285wkw on 22psi on my dyno, which is ~440whp Dynojet.

Tuners over here dont even achieve these results on hub dyno over here so...

I have tried Haltech, and switched back to oem ecu. I found it much easier to tune and had better failsafe. Also, the oem has flexfuel capacity now, can't beat that

Put it on a Mainline and then do the comparison. You cannot compare VD to DD or Mainline.

iv found VD is 16% higher reading then our New Zealand Dynopack hub dynos. This was just in comparison to a Dynopack at the local reputable workshop. In New Zealand we have 3 petrol companies that offer 98Ron octane. I do know that 1 of the 3 petrol companies 98ron when compared to U.S equal to 94 octane.

In the last 2 months Iv also change my set up slightly and had a recent touch up tune which produced a little bit more power.
