PTE 6062 - 2.0L - 478whp/391tq @25psi - 93 octane - National Speed

I had my 2003 Evo VIII tuned by Vlad at National speed in Wilmington, NC earlier today. The engine was rebuilt by Central NC Speedshop (CNC) at the end of 2015. I was pleased to see Vlad squeeze out 478whp/391tq @ 25psi on 93 octane! I would love to see what this thing would do on E85, but for now I am happy with these results on pump gas (this is my DD). And for the record....National Speed is the place to go if you are in Eastern NC or shoot, anywhere in NC for that matter. This is a top-notch shop with ridiculously good/intelligent customer service (thanks, Dane!) and quality of work.

Specs:
2.0L
Precision 6062 Gen 2 Dual Ball Bearing
Precision 1000CC injectors
Wiseco 1400HD pistons
Manley turbo tuff rods
Manley road bearings
Buschur BF280 Custom cams
BC intake and exhaust valves
King performance main bearing
Spoolin' Up COP kit
3" straight pipe w/vibrant resonator
custom short route IC piping
93 octane pump gas
OEM intake manifold
custom -10AN catch can setup

Thanks! The tuner decided to hold tight at 25psi on the 93 octane...I'm happy with this for the time being, until I (or if I) decide to go E85 this is my DD, too.

Which turbine housing are you running?

I want to know what it'll do on 93... that looks to be a good turbo choice for me later on... though 5k is a bit high for my tastes. Whats the next step down from this turbo size wise?

PTE5858 is the step down.
I expected much better spool out of this turbo, perhaps it has a .82ar turbine housing?

I have this turbo and see 20psi in 3rd on my totally stock block X right around 4400 rpms. OP has BF280's listed in his build list, that's going to add a little to the spool time while shifting the power band to the right.

This was on 93 octane...my BF280 cams are definitely a contributing factor to this higher RPM spool.

Hit the nail on the head! How are you liking your 6062?

I've got a 5858 on my stock block.

Full boost was around 4200 RPM. Made 475whp on 93 and 530whp on e85.

I love it and could argue its the best street turbo on the market right now. While it obviously spools later than stock/stock framed turbos the power deliver is so smooth and comes on quick when it needs to. 5th gear as I am sure you've noticed takes no downshift just a little throttle and the car takes off.

I'm a tuner so I've got my car extremely fine tuned and dialed in since my X is my daily. While the car hasn't been on a dyno, I have done a lot of VDR runs to check consistency while tuning and it graphs 510awhp @ 27psi every time. Not bad for like I said earlier a totally bone stock engine cams and all.

Dude, that 613 number! That looks like a promising turbo if they can't get an EFR kit made for a reasonable price.

Itzwolf, you just mentioned that you turned it down a bit. If you tuned it for a "kill" mode could you squeeze 500 on 93 relatively safely?

I had 510 whp on the 5858 on 93 fairly easily:

So yes haha. This car is definitely WAY under tuned. Should probably make around 550ish whp on 93 I would imagine.

I'm sure Tom kept it there to be safe on your stock block , but like you said there is more in it for sure

Yours!

Unless its a super low reading dyno, but I doubt that. Typically Dynojets aren't heartbreaker dynos.
