Question:

When you measured backpressure to be 38psi at 30psi boost,
stock engine, stock head, stock cams?
What turbo?
E85 am sure.

Sounds like you used a larger turbo as this is still reasonable ratio (1.3).

Thank you.

90K mile Stock engine/cams/headstuds. This was with a stock intake manifold .

FP red with MHI
E85.

I never run things very hard on pump gas. Ethanol is cheap insurance .

I kind of want to make this competitive, the only thing I'll need to try and meet the bar is

- AEM Infinity
- Surge tank + 2x 450s
- R2s instead of S2s

Who am I kidding, it'll take me enough 24 months to set money aside for all of that. Bravo on the power! I'll be happy with my paltry 580/540.

Thanks man. Its been a fun build and I'm happy with the results.
I've got S2's also! I usually keep the power to about 600/450 or so also. The Clutch/transmission will live a better life.

A single 450 with a 6an feed line and 2000cc injectors will make 650-680 wheel.

Awesome numbers Tim, I can't wait to build mine some day.

I don't feel the single 450 can handle it for the red, I was peaking 36psi and my pressure numbers were becoming erratic. I'm thinking with a setup that hits those power numbers at a lower PSI it would be doable.

Example
E70
450
FIC 1650 High-Zs
Pump rewired to retain hi-low circuit
-8 feed to rail from pump housing

You maxed out your injectors, which could be why pressure went erratic. Injectors being open for too long can make it difficult for the pump to maintain pressure. FIC rates them for 580hp at 43.5psi base pressure on E85..

Scheisse. Didn't even cross my mind as Aaron was saying we were still good on the IDC. Plan 48 - I'll add that second pump and take the pressure up to 53.5 psi. Spec sheet calls for ~650hp at that baseline.

I would be more inclined to go with what Aaron said then what I'm saying since he was looking at your data, and I'm just discussing this in theory LOL

MrFred has stated that a single 450 hardwired with a feedline should be good for ~650ish whp (Dynojet).

Maybe there's something else going on? FPR? Have no clue...

Thanks man. The 2.2 is a great engine with good VE and lower vibrations then the bigger crank engines.
FWIW I've got a walbro 450@14 volts on stock lines, ID1700's, Radium Fuel rail and on 81% Ethanol it was around 90% duty around 7700. AFR up top was 11.4 and the ecu is set to cut at 12.2. It is just measuring an AVG of whats in the exhaust so thats another reason to not run cars at 12.0 or leaner all the time IMO.

I normally run the car at lower boost and a lower duty cycle.

But if I don't armchair-general and generate scientific wild *** guesses (SWAG) for the expert, what else would I do with my day

And if built with skill, they are as happy as the OEM 2.0. I built mine with the 64 block with longevity in mind, I'm not looking to pull it out for a rebuild till year 5 or 6 of daily operations. I rarely catch reports of the 2.2s (Either 63 or 64) self destructing.

No. It's the 2.3's that ear bearings and wear out the pistons/bore from vibration and low rod ratio
