Upgrading Bulbs in HIDs

Im not sure if this is possible but I was wonder can we upgrade our stock HID bulbs to something stronger IE a 6k or 8k bulb? Would you have to change the ballast and the bulb or just the bulb?

I don't know the answer to your quesiton but just to let you know, anything over 4300K puts less light on the road and more glare onto incoming drivers .

You just change the bulbs. And rcheung is right, the higher the color temperature, the lower the light output.

They are probably blinding because he is using xenon bulbs in a halogen reflector so the cutoff is all wrong.

I used to own a Syclone also

i've seen the HID ballast upgrades done. it's in here somewhere, but under a different category. the hid he used was a bit brighter and more of a purplish tint, like in BMWs. it's not bad to do it, but it was just around $150 for the pair, and i think stock HID is good enough. i can try to dig it up, but i forgot where it was. just search HID or something. also it is good to replace your ballast after a couple of years since they do burn out, and just like other bulbs/ballasts, they have replacements/upgrades.
