rear speakers wire color HELP!
Hi,
I'm trying to install a set of rear speakers, but I can't find the color coding AT the rear speakers.
the actual colors are right rear (blue and light green) and left rear (pink and purple)
Any idea which are +?
This is for a 2005 EVO MR (6 speakers)
Thanks

I always associated the darker color as ground, and the brighter color as positive. Those wires should be the same color as the ones on a wiring harness to hook up your cd player, if you have aftermarket. If you can find wiring diagram for cd player hookup, it should help you.

That is actually the problem, that always they state the wiring color according to the wiring harness at the radio, but there the wires are dual color, when they go to the actual speakers connectors they are single color.
You are right about the color though, the light seems to be the positive.
Thanks

Take a AA/AAA battery and hook one wire up to the positive end and the other wire to the negative end. Note which wire you put on the + side. The speaker will either push out or suck in. Do that for both speakers. Which ever wires on the + side of the battery that made both speakers push out (or in) and call them positive and hook the speakers up accordingly. If it sounds like ***, reverse them. +/- doesn't really matter in an audio system as long as you're consistent throughout the system. Actually you might be able to get the factory system to sound a little better if you reversed the wiring for the tweeters (unless they're reversed from the factory)
No the darker color isn't necessarily negative.

+1 for negitive not always the darker of the two...
take certain toyotas for instance.. the rears are yellow and black, and red and white. black and red being the positive
