Compustar Alarm.

anyone else using this alarm.

it came installed on my 9. first off, the 2way remote is freaking HUGE!

and i can't figure out how to use the remote start, but its there. Turbo timer mode works fine.

EDIT- 2nd Question: How hard would it be to upgrade to the newest model with 1mile range, and is it worth it?

what are other popular options/brands that have similar features?

You need to program it to turn on the remote start. The compustar website has the user manual of all the models.

i downloaded the proper manual. it says the car needs to be in "reservation mode." but it doesn't say what to do if the turbo timer mode is enabled as well how to do it.

it doesn't need to have a key in the box anymore. if it has been programmed already the reservation mode means pulling the handbrake while the engine is still running and keep the gear in neutral. when you take out the key the engine will be still running due to the turbo timer. if the tt is on, when you close the driver door you need to press the lock button and the engine will continue to be running until it times out. if you have the tt off, as soon as you close the door the engine stops and the alarm automatically locks and arm it.

make sure to give it time before trying the RS. the reservation mode is the only failsafe for the system and if it is not correct it will not start. btw it is press and hold II and make sure the antenna is within sight. make sure that all the connections to the antenna is right.

in page (37)19/22, check the remote start error diagnostic table. if you press RS and it doesn't start, the lights blink 3 times and after that it will blink the number of times depending on the fault.
1=motor running, 7=reservation mode off, etc.

I get Error Code 8 (Tach or Voltage Sensor Failing)

It has to be the tach wire, becuase if i query i can get voltage eventually..

another problem i'm having is the remote doesnt stay in sync, meaning, i can lock the doors and it will show up as locked, 15 minutes later come outside and unlock and it won't send the 2way back.
