Routing Interior Gauges through firewall

Just curious as to where people are running their electronic or mechanical gauge wiring through the firewall chassis. I have an Evo 9 MR and I haven't really seen much openings in the firewall to run my wiring. Some input would be appreciated.

Best place on the firewall is on the passenger side. There's a couple small openings you can work with

Did you have to splice into any rubber grommets?

Look on the passenger side on the firewall directly behind the strut tower in that tight spot, there's a hole in there that's perfect for routing wiring. You can make a slight hole in the grommet to run wires thru, or just remove it completely.

^This, once you remove that grommet, you're not going to want to replace it

just remove it completely. it's a PAIN to even get to it but i've been running mine without the grommet without any issues.

Did you guys notice an audible change in cabin noise after removing the plug? I've always been a fan of making a small "x" and keeping the plug because I was afraid I'd hear a lot of extra engine noise.

I didn't notice an increase in noise from inside the cabin. Can't go wrong with the "X" method either

you can always make your own way. I tucked all my gauge wiring under my drivers pillar and drilled a small hole through the top of the firewall under the cowl, then the rest of the wiring is hidden under the cowl.
