transmission problem
About 2 months ago i got my new clutch installed and a few days after started having a weird grinding noise only on decelleration, and about a week after that the car started making a loud whining noise. I took it into the mitsu dealership and they said it was a bad transfer case, but of course they would not replace it. Just last week, i finally got the transfer case replaced, and now all of the loud whining noises are gone, but the grinding noise on decel is still there. What could be the cause of this? Thanks

Do you still have the stock flywheel?
I am experiencing the same exact problem. Immediatly after my clutch(ACT Xtreme) and flywheel (ACT Prolite) installation the grinding noise on decel started. It annoyed me as well as worried me. I took it in to have it looked at and the owner of the shop told me it was because of the lightened flywheel and that it was completely normal. A lot of people on here told me it was normal also, especially on 03 evos.

I as well have a 2003 and I installed the ACT Heavy Duty PP w/street disc and a streetlite flywheel, I did notice some added noise on decel, it did worry me a bit, but a good friend of mine is a very experienced mechanic and said there would be some added noise and it is normal. I have had my clutch installed for.. eh.. I'd say almost 6 months and have had no tranny problems whatsoever (ie. grinding, popping out of gear). I did post on another Evo forum about this and the general concensus was that it is normal in some cars to be a bit louder on decel. I dunno, like i said, I have drove my car fairly aggressively a few times in the last 6 months since the clutch install and have experienced no tranny problems. Hope this helps you atleast a bit.
