Low boost issue
Just got my 04 evo last week. The thing was crap slow and apparently after looking over it, heavily modified before. All the major harnesses were spliced into at one point, the engine was apart as was the intercooler and pretty much everything else.
I changed the ****ty plugs that were in it, and fixed the boost control hoses and thought I had the car running right. Just put my boost gauge in today, Im only running 10psi! Any gear, any rpm. Wont go above 10psi. And let me tell you, it feels like it to.
The car is as bone stock as I can figure, no MBC(yet, its coming to my door soon). Could the ecu have been flashed, or could something be malfunctioning causing this low boost issue? What can I check or do?

hmm funny how your buying a MBC with the car running like it is.... check for a boost leak for one...check the lines going to the wastegate to the boost solenoid..--- thinking they are put on wrong....

Well the car is running ok, just slow because its only pushing 10psi. Its not a boost leak issue(i dont think) because if I take the hoses off and let the wastegate stay shut, my foot can control the boost. (ex. 20+ psi.)
So I can get the car to boost up, but not with the stock lines and solenoid.
How can the lines from the wastegate to boost solenoid be on wrong?

... ok well I am betting you atleast have a boost leak.. it can come from anywhere... holes in the intercooler.... throttle body, injectors.... anyways though the lines could be crossed...

How do you suggest that I check for boost leaks?
Also, which lines can be crossed? The last nip on the solenoid is the one to use, then it T's off, one to the turbo, one to the WG correct?

Search is my friend. Sorry to be the noob here, I've been out of the 4g63 game for a while.
Found my answer... my boost lines are not the mitsu ones, so Im missing the "pill". So I guess Im just running the WG boost pressure.

Sorry. Sometimes people need answers right away rather than looking through tons of threads. I search when I have the time and usually find my answer, but when Im in a bind and I dont have much time I post up my problem.
Thanks!
