why are you installing arp studs in the first place?

then, if you can answer that question with a solid reply, i would say take the head off and do it right the first time before your engine spills its oil out the back of the motor.

The most "proper" way to do the headstuds are by removing the head, however, it is not necessary. Everybody has their own opinion on the matter and will voice what they prefer to do. I can tell you that I did not remove my head nor do the majority of people.

But yes, Kevin has a great question for you, why are you installing head studs? Unless you plan on changing your setup in the near future or plan on boosting much more than 22psi, you will be fine with the stock studs.

Proper way is to remove the head and change your head gasket. People do the 1x1 method. It has working but if it is done wrong you will be pulling your head anyway to change the gasket. So mine as well do it the right way the first time.
