NO, NO, NO, NEVER EVER!
GM Synchromesh was responsible for my transmission failure in 2004 on my old Evo VIII. I had it lab tested after I destroyed my transmission going up an on-ramp at full throttle. The lab confirmed that the synchromesh overheated and broke down. The stuff had been in my car for two weeks after I had my clutch replaced at 17k miles with an ACT.
I used BG after that and never had problems. This is my peronal experience.

GM/Pennzoil Synchromesh has been used in the DSM world for years as an alternative to BG. A lot of Evo owners have used it successfully as well. Anyone else have any horror stories?

another user above mentioned destroying his tranny by using synchromesh; but the question is, did he use synchromesh only? I can see how by using synchromesh only your tranny would suffer since it will probably brake down with the heat developed and leave little to no protection on your transmission's internals.
can anyone else chime in?

you mentioned you used a mixture of fluid tranny and synchromesh right?

FTLOG!! Just use the OEM fluid. I'm only saying this because I'd hate for any Evo owner to suffer drive-train failure prematurely and it seems to be safer to stick with OEM on these cars when it comes to fluids. Trust me, I've put the OEM fluids to the test. They will not fail you. And yes, completely drain first, don't just top it off - if that's what you're asking.
DiaQueen 75W85 Manual Transmission Fluid with part number MZ313376. For your transmission.
DiaQueen LSD Gear Oil SAE 90 with part number 3775610. For your transfer case and rear-diff

thanks, so 2qt mobil one 75w90 and one qt gm right? Reason im asking cause mitsu didnt approve my warranty claim due to having a aftermarket bov and intake. They were saying any performance mods to increase hp cant be supported by the stock trans. My trans has a slight grind shifting to fith but so slight were its livable. Will the gm synchromesh help?

You can order the stuff on line ..... its the same fluid Mitsu's race team uses. I would trust nothing other than OEM fluids.
