burning rubber smell coming from engine bay

hey guys just got the car back from the body shop and driving it home I noticed a burning rubber smell coming from the engine bay.

I did a buncha searches on here and found nothing useful. it seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. No noticeable driving issues either. im thinking it might have something to do with the belts but I remember the dealer "telling me" they changed the belts, but now im not so sure. im nearing 30k miles. maybe its time for that 30k service?

also I checked all fluids and they are all good.

they replaced the fenders, the suspension control arms and the front struts and a new hood, and new passenger side headlight. also new front tires and had passenger side rim re-done.

If you're wearing belts so bad you can smell it, it should be fairly easy to see. The serpentine belt is exposed. You can pull the timing belt cover pretty easily. 4 10mm bolts at each corner and off it comes. I would check that out. Have you looked to see if there's any cabling, etc. touching the exhaust anywhere?

Did they have to paint the fenders? Could it be the smell of paint/clearcoat?

Sounds like the body shop did some test driving to make sure the paint wouldn't fall off during AWD launches and high speed runs That kind of stuff happens all the time. That is why I am very specific about making sure that no one drives my car when I take it somewhere.

ill have to pull off the belt cover this week and check. could also be possible the body shop took it for a joyride.

yes the fenders had to be painted, but wouldn't paint cause a different smell? I know burning rubber when I smell it.

thnx guys any other input or possibilities for this to happen?
