Copper Spray on Headgasket - Yay or Nay

We Copper spray ours and its only for any minor imperfections you may find on the block or head.. A head that is not flat will NEVER seal with copper spray or anything for that matter.. 1 issue we have NEVER had is headgasket issues.. Thats at 57psi of boost, 1000whp, oringed block, non oringed block, never an issue.. We stick to what works for us..

And this is who I WOULD buy a block from.

I am still tossing up the idea of which direction I intend to go. I believe I will buy the build kit from you guys - and assemble it my self. Just cant decide between 2.0 and 2.3... Sooo difficult.

As for the copper spray. I have used it on head gaskets, exhaust manifolds, and all turbo gaskets. Always seals up perfect. It doesn't fill warped head passages - its job it to seal off minor inclusions that would other wise over the course of time - lead to a leak.

Ive used copper spray on multiple builds and various makes and models of engines...

never seen it ruin a heater core or cause any other sort of problem,also never had any headgasket issues....

i would suspect user error or other issues if the copper spray caused problems.......

I have the same experience as you with copper spray - no problems

I think whomever ran into a problem with it clogging the heater core probably neglected to follow the directions

You are supposed to use a light dusting / film on the gasket

You re NOT SUPPOSED TO stray the entire can into the coolant system. LOL

Its spray, not spray Alfried and we know good and well how to use the copper spray. We build our own engines and have yet to have any failed rod bolts with or without copper spray.

Yeah i dont understand how it could clog a cooling system,, Its just a very thin dust like layer..

mike any brand in particular u use ???? of cooper spray ..

Im 99% sure we use permatex brand.. The one they sell at the Auto Parts STores in Copper color can..

Aluminum expands more than cast iron. So, the head is moving on the block every time the engine is run. I can imagine possible benefit from copper spray if running cast iron on cast iron or aluminum on aluminum but less so here.
