Thicker Gear Fluid to fix Deceleration Noise??
I have the deceleration noise in 4th and 5th gear above 3K rpm as I have discussed in other threads. (Rattles/rubbing sound when coasting w/ foot off the gas.)
Looking at the posts, it seems more common than I expected, especially with new cams, lighter flywheel and mods etc.. (even stock).
After searching through the threads, the noise seems to be caused by the clutch disc(s) from the tortional vibrations. (Unlike the TOB noise at idle, neutral..etc.)
Has anyone fixed or quieted down the noise by using thicker gear oils such as 75w-120? If so, was it used in both the Transfer case and Transmission?
Please post of any solution to minimizing the noise, with which gear oil as being better noise suppressor. Thank you!

I want to see if thicker (higher heat range) oil in thre tranny, TC and differential will make any difference with the noise. Perhaps it may dampen the increased harmonic distortion.
I believe my installer used Redline oils after the clutch install.
In the past while stock for 70K+, I have used Mobil1, Syntec, Lucas and Amsoil for gear oils without any ill effects.
I've tried Amsoil before. I believe they are good products.
It seems no Auto part stores around my area carries it, and I like to pick up the items myself.
Has anyone else tried 75W-120 or 140 as their gear oils?

The stuff that I run in my five speed gearbox is called Motul Gear 300 and it is a 75W 90 oil. I would think that the Notul oils are available on line if you can´t find them in your neighborhood.

With an aftermarket clutch and flywheel you're going to get the decel noise. I've had it for years now, drive train is perfectly fine. I just keep using Diaqueen.

i just asked apagan01 for a full evo driveline fluid change and got whatever he sent me,no complaints yet
So, I'm guessing you don't have the deceleration noise?
Has anyone tried Mobil1 75w-140 as their gear oils?
